The occasional pest control problem, I understand. Food brings bugs. Most restaurants around here are diligent in their battle. But not all. Again, infer what you will.

Nah. Too close to lunchtime....might make everyone queasy. and I don't want to waste my 100th post belittling local eateries trying to feed the masses.

Besides that, the true story is this:

Go to 100 restaurants. 95 of them will have some sort of occasional pest control problem. It comes with the territory of open doors, vents, products being loaded in and out, food products stored in warehouses attracting unwanted guests, and the like. In other words, it happens. Despite the restauranteur's efforts to make sure it doesn't.

Many area businesses approach the problem head on, and have a regular service attend to their needs. Still others detect an occasional problem, and act quickly to correct it.

The problem lies in the occasional business that detects a problem, ignores it until it becomes too big to hide from the public, and THEN calls the professionals in to try and clean up the mess. That kind of place is the one to avoid.

I've been in the front rooms of probably 95 percent of the eating establishments in the area, and maybe 35-40 percent of the back rooms as well. Most of the good restaurants take the problem seriously, and work diligently to avoid the sort of incident that Ollie describes. Occasionally though, something happens. One incident doesn't necessarily point to a major problem. But more than one certainly might.

Having said that, if I found a roach in my food, I wouldn't go back if they offered to cut me in as a partner. Nuff said.

Agreed. Even the cleanest restaurant can have them hitchike in on cardboard boxes - which are notorious roach transporters.

It's excellent. Consider SPLITTING a dinner with whomever you're going out with though. They serve LARGE portions (but very tasty none the less).
