bottom line...

anyone who isnt fed up with the bush administration isnt paying attention.

quit twisting your sugar coated lies and understand where we were 8 years ago compared to where we are now. it has nothing to do with republican v. democrat or liberal v. conservative. it has to do with paying attention and as we all can see not many people do that very well.

I agree, but probably for completely different reasons...

That said, we're better off financially than we were 8 years ago. the economic growth under Bush is unprecedented - and let's not forget we were heading backwards before the tax cuts. Also, I'm quite happy that Alito and Roberts have replaced Rehnquist and O'Connor - well, at least O'Connor.

We're at least taking the fight to the terrorists instead of sitting back doing nothing while we wait for them to strike us.

Aside from that, Bush and his wacko leftist domestic spending spree can go suck farts.

that too... and the PC way we're fighting the Iraq war now. Far too many "rules of engagement".

That is awesome. Spend six years using every method possible to rationalize your Bush support (and every stripe of insane neo-con policy) in attempt to debunk his detractors, and then call him a leftist after your cause has become hopeless. Love it.

I think you will find my criticism of his domestic spending habits quite consistent. I have defended his taking us into Iraq and continue to believe it was the right thing to do, with or without WMDs. I believe the tax cuts were miniscule but did what they were supposed to do (kick start the economy), but I think his spending on the stuuuuupid prescription drug bill was outrageous. I believe his amnesty (whatever he wants to call it, it's still amnesty) program for illegals is darn near suicidal. I also think he bowed down to his critics after Abu Grahib and put far too many restrictions on our troops, some of which have caused our troops to be killed in action.

People need to remember that "borders" are nothing more than lines on a map. If you want to secure a border( be it Us v. Mexico, Or Iraq v. Iran) You need as many troops as it take to put up a wall of men shoulder to shoulder all across the theoretical border lines in order to "secure it".

Here is where I disagree with you bassjones

" I have defended his taking us into Iraq and continue to believe it was the right thing to do, with or without WMDs."

I clearly remember where I was and who I was with watching the news when this all started. I was against invading Iraq from the start. My best friend was crashing at my house. We had diffrent points of view on the whole fiasco at the time and still do (even though we are still best friends)

At that time, all I saw on the news was how the threat level was elevated from intelligence we now have. Stories kept running about buying plastic and duct tape to secure your house from a gas attack (does anyone remember those newscasts? Really, ask yourself what duct tape and plastic could do to help you in that situation.). America was scared and pissed and the majority was out for blood.

I could not help thinging WTF? We were being bombared by scare tactics. My initial thoughts were, if you want to win a war for daddy, if you want to secure oil, if you want to just kick the sh*t out of a third world country, fair enough, at least be honest enought to admit it to the public instead of using fear to rally "merica" behind you. I may still not agree but I could then at least honor your honesty.

The sh*t side of it is no WMD's have turned up. Ok, now we say intelligence was wrong. I could buy that too. I still cannot believe that was the main motivation for this whole thing. I think they used 911 as an excuse. They saw an opportunity, took it, and were wrong.

I'm not trying to start a pissing match here because we both have our beliefs and probably will not back down from them anyways.

I'm just sick and tired of the govt using ruses to panic the public into their own agenda and then acting like it is in "our" best interests.

Do I feel safer today? NO! I really would not travel overseas for anything because I know the rest of the world thinks we are arrogant assholes who do whatever we want. Damn what everyone else thinks.

The problem I have is I do not think that way.

Yes, there are terriosts out there who want us dead. 911 proved that. I do not think our actions in Iraq helped that out though. If anything it only made negative views of us worse.

Let me add that though I am against this war, I will not take away from the american soldiers who ended up in the middle of it. It's a shame to me that so many lives are being lost.

Arguing politics is the BASIS of our government, though. The poly-partisan government under which we share our freedom thrives on the checks and balances of one side pitted against the others. If we, as a people, were not to argue or discuss politics, then we would have anarchy because no one would ever agree on the rules and they would fall to the wayside.

I don't really like a poly-partisan government like we have, because I think that responsible adults should be able to adequately discuss, debate, and decide issues without having to draw lines in the sand, but it's what we have to work with, so we must. . .or we must change it.
