NYC banning Trans Fats in 2008

Post by Morphine Child »

http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/12/05/ny ... index.html

So NYC has declared that Restaurants must stop serving trans fats by 2008. While I think this is a good idea for people's health, it's kind of strange...I mean, banning smoking in public is one thing, because you're messing with someone else's health. Smoking in your own house or car is cool, because you're only killing yourself while taking care of some taxes for us non-smokers.

But banning a food substance is a bit strange. I guess if you want to be unhealthy you'll have to do it in your own home. I will say though, I've stayed away from fast food for the last few months, and after awhile you stop wanting it altogether. Maybe that is what will happen in NYC. I wonder how the people and restaurants will react in NYC?
"My friend says he wants to die. He's in a band, they sound like Pearl Jam, the clothes are all black and the music is crap."

f**k these assholes. Why can't people just mind their own forking business. Why don't they work on fixing some real problems in NYC, like crime for instance.

And one other thing, if i ever have the chance to meet one of these forking dip sh*ts that actually supports taking away people's rights, I am going to shove my Budweiser up their ass, put my cigarette out in their eye's and feed them Trans Fat with a big forking spoon until they vomit all over themselves.

on the horizon, there will be some governmental
body to suggest that "fat" be taxed.

They tried that already. The police get sued for shooting "innocent victims" who are leaving strip clubs known for drugs and prostitution, who then run down a cop and ram the side of another cop car.

Don't even get me started on that one. All I am going to say if the "Innocent Victims" were white, this would be over with and you wouldn't see Al Sharpton's ass anywhere is sight.

After a plainclothes cop wielding a gun and not bothering to identify himself as a cop comes up to their car and insists they get out.

I agree with you, if thats how it happened, that is wrong. That isn't my problem. My problem is they have turned this into a racial thing, and that is not what it was. It was very bad judgment by several cops. What ever happened to people just being stupid? I mean seriously all you have to have is a GED to be on the police force. These guys are not any different than you and me, and they make mistakes. Their mistake took a life, that is tragic, but they didn't kill him because he was black.

I think it was very bad judgement by THE GUY WHO GOT SHOT - a guy who was supposed to be getting married the next day. Strip Club (not just any strip club, but one known for the extremely high levels of illegal activity that go on there), runs down undercover cop (if he failed to id himself and was waving a gun, then he may have assumed he was a madman or something and was acting in self-defense - I don't buy it though), then repeatedly rams a clearly marked cop car and continues to do so when multiple officers are pointing pistols at him and telling him to stop the car, get out of the car, etc... Then cops in fear for their lives and at a very high tension level begin shooting attempted cop killer's car. Now father, husband to be, brother, son, grandson is dead.

I tell my basketball players and the kids I work with this all the time. "If you think you're being harrassed by the police officer because you're black, and you did nothing wrong, fine... do what he says, and then sue him for racial discrimination. DO NOT EVER point a cell phone, toy gun, real gun, stick, cordless drill, etc... at the nice man. He is very well trained with that S&W he's holding and he will hit you 6 times before you can say 'oh crap!' Put your hands in the air, lay down, cooperate fully and then call Mike Latham and sick the NAACP lawyers on them tomorrow AM first thing." Dead people don't sue, their parents/wives/children sue.

Bad judgement shouldn't be punishable by 51 gunshots.

Pizza delivery will be like making a moonshine run. You'll start to see a bunch of 69 Dodge Chargers with Papa John's signs on their roofs all over the city jumping over traffic while avoiding the law that they've been in trouble with since the day they were born. That would be sweet. :)

I agree, going to a strip club, no matter how shady, shouldn't get you shot 51 times, but attacking police officers with a 3,000 pound weapon will get you killed every time. 1 bullet or 51, they will shoot until the "threat is eliminated" - in other words it's dead.

I'm actually ok with the banning of trans fats. All they basically stem from are the use of cheaper ingredients substituted for better ones to shave a few bucks of the cost of making a food product. Does that savings in money get passed on to the consumer? Probably not. I don't see it as anyone taking control of what I eat, I see it as the food industry being forced to serve me better food. I can still walk into McDonalds and get some McNuggets if I choose, but the McNuggets would now have to be made with better ingredients.
