Are you referring to Public Law 107-243: Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002? Which was passed, granting authorization?

According to our government's numbers, this resolution passed 296-133 in the House (Nays included 6 Republicans, 1 Independent, 126 Democrats). Official House Roll Call

According to our government's numbers, this resolution passed 77-23 in the Senate (1 Rep., 1 Ind., 21 Democrats).Offical Senate Roll Call

Maybe you were refering to some other resolution Democrats voted in favor of? I couldn't tell if you were being sarcasic...no smiley face icons?
Do I spy on the "in favor" vote on this the names, "Clinton, Kerry,
Schumer and even our own Mr. Bayh"???

When you are bested, its more appropriate to say, "I was misinformed, you have a better argument than I do." You know, take the hit. Not sit back and fire off what little point you have left. Its petty and cheap.

I don't know, but it says soooo much.

Fact: Hitler was a big whiny German baby.

Fact: Hitler was a really short man.

Fact: Hitler had huge hands.

nothing would make republicans happier than to see the democrats try to impeach bush and run all sorts of investigations and inquiries. If the D's want to guarantee the R's will be right back in control of the big 3 again in '08, that's one way to do it. Piss off the conservative base and they'll get out and vote in waves. The dirty little secret is, the reason the R's lost this time is their base either stayed home or voted for the D's or L's because they were so disillusioned w/ the party. All 3 branches controlled by R's and we got a new entitlement program (medicare prescription drugs) and out of control spending on education and a whole host of other "liberal" programs. The conservatives were/are pissed off and they/we stayed home or decided we'd had enough and voted them out and we'll start over next time with new conservatives that actually are. 12 years of control, including 6 controlling the White House and the budget on discretionary (that doesn't include military spending) has more than doubled! Small government party, my ass...

Problem is, I don't think they get it. They think they lost because the country moved to the left, and they were too conservative, so they're probably going to run McCain or Giuliani for Pres, and the conservatives will stay home again. I now fully expect to hear the words "President Hillary Rodham Clinton" in Febuary of 2009.

Sweet mother of God I hope we don't try any impeachements. I've been fairly liberal all my life. I'm curerntly disillusioned with BOTH parties, but voted D in this last election just because IMO it was the lesser of two evils. The last thing we need is more divisive political manuevering. Why try and impeach a lame duck president? The Dems need to spend the next two years pushing trying to maintain their position in the middle and hopefully working across the aisle to achieve actual change.

bassjones - you complain about spending on education going up, but it didn't go up nearly as much as was promised when 'No Child Left Behind' went into effect. This plan was thrust into action without proper support. Just implementing the testing and tutoring required to bring this plan to fruition has cost more far more than the funding that has been given. I believe that schools do need to be improved, but with this blanket approach which penalizes schools for working to rehabilitate underacheivers, and the total lack of funding, I'm not sure how it's to be done.

It DOUBLED. It didn't go up as much as Dems and the NEA wanted it to, but it went up enough to more than pay for the implementation of NCLB. Besides, Ted Kennedy wrote the damn thing. Bush just signed it.

Please, please, PLEASE libs...go ahead with your little inquisitions and impeachment proceedings.

Sorry this response is so juvenile, but I am just loving how democrats are quite convinced everything is going to go their way now. Apparently they forgot Government class where Bush still has veto power and they don't have a 2/3rds majority in either house.

Again, I fully expect to see a government shutdown in January. Impeachment vote in March/April after a ramp-up in the media.

Yeah, First Issue: raise the minimum wage- Pass both houses-> VETO, no 2/3 overide.

Add impeachment procedings (What charge? I am just asking; I don't know,) and you have double deadlock.

Libertarianism is looking better and better to me (and maybe others) all the time!

I love the fact that someone placed a post joking about impeachment, not even half serious if I know my Jay, and you guys start freaking out about it.

I highly doubt they'll try and impeach him, unless he does something really dumb in the next couple years. I don't think they'lll try to dig up anything and use that.

Repeating my question from an earlier post - Why impeach a lame duck president? This would be strategically retarded. The best thing the Dems could do right now is pass along a hundred bills for Bush to veto (which he will) so that they can point to him as the problem in 2008.

If an impeachment is attempted it'll do nothing but disillusion the voting base that's already tired of blame-based politics.

That said, I don't think they'll try anything that dumb.
