A serious question about our president

Post by Haggard »

I have been racking my brain for a week since a little debate I had with my coworkers. I am trying to come up with one single beneficial move that Bush has made during his tenure. I am talking about a benefit to average americans, not the elite. If you could help out I would appreciate it.

This system cannot be reformed or voted out of office because reforms and elections do not challenge the fundamental causes of injustice.

whats a presidernt??

amongst many problems I have with him,... also have
some likes.

But I'll stick with one for the moment.

I benefited personally from the 2001 tax cuts.

(and I'm so dreadfully tired of the line I keep
hearing about tax cuts only for the rich, because
I'm not)

What Bush did (a 10,000 foot overview)
Tax Cuts - Which did stimulate the economy...what a shock....
Reaction to 9/11
A Justice Department that cleaned up the aftermath of the 1990's
I would also include telling the UN to #&^@ off and putting people in place that want to do a good job, not just collect a paycheck and build time towards retirement.

What I wish he would have done
Cut crap from the federal budget
Pushed more issues to the states

...only to crawl back to the UN.

If it's part of his agenda he's behind the UN 100% but when it isn't he thinks they're junk.

IMHO I think the UN needs to be dropped and reorginized but whatever.

And by tax cuts do you mean the $300 of our own money we got back that one time?

Yes, along with the continual lower tax rates I pay every year, especially as my income goes up when I finish my degree next month...

Seriously, this economy is kicking ass right now. And, as Reagan said, that benefits everyone, not just the rich. The average unemployment during Bush has been lower than the average unemployment under Clinton. Basically, right now, if you want a job and are employable, you are working... May not be the exact job you want, and it may not pay as much as you'd like, but you're working. Considering that all of Europe has at least twice our unemployment rate, that's very impressive.

What I wish he'd do? Ask himself WWPD (what would Patton do) in Iraq. Tell his critics to shut the f... up and listen to the people that voted for him and actually liked his agenda instead of trying to pacify those who didn't vote for him and whom he's never going to please even if he turned the country into a Socialist Democracy. He's never going to change their minds no matter what he does, so why bother with them. The people he's lost are many of the people who worked so hard to get him elected and re-elected (including me).

When he gave that "we will not falter, we will not fail" speech his ratings soared... The reason his ratings are falling is because some of us feel he's gone soft. He's turned into Clinton - "a little more talk and a lot less action..." Pains me to say it, but they are one in the same - minus the moral terpitude.

That's because you work in a record store and don't make enough money to actually pay taxes. Not slamming, just saying...

If you paid taxes (i.e. didn't get everything you paid back in refunds) you got the rebate. If you didn't pay, you didn't get the rebate. Sounds fair to me.

I didn't either. I didn't meet the 'criteria'.

He still pays taxes, he just isn't elligable for the refund.

I paid and didn't recieve a cut. I didn't have to pay any more taxes but I didn't recieve any refund, let alone a specific tax cut.

Looks like it was a tax cut for the rich....
May not be the exact job you want, and it may not pay as much as you'd like, but you're working.
And you may not be able to afford health care so don't get sick!

No, I had a relatively good paying job through this period and I pay my taxes every year. I too recevied no refund and I had to pay. I recevied no $300 gift certificate to Sharper Image so I could my foot massager.
