hey, i was talkin to some guys from second sun, and i decided to design some CD covers for them. Heres the first one i did. Its a lil too dark, but i liked the general design of it. They may be using it in an upcomming WutzUP magazine. Ill be posting anpother one soon, with a look they requested. tell me what you think.

(Cd name not added in this)

Not bad at all my man! Just make sure you're building it to the appropiate size and DPI!

i'm a fan of crisp lines, texture and a solid colorscheme

is it possible for you to scan some materials (wood/pics of concrete) etc and possibly use that for a backdrop after some touching up?

i have the size right... i think its 12cmx12cm (thats what i read online)... but im not sure how to change the DPI. I know im not at the right level, but i cant find where to change it.

for what its worth this cover gives me a hippie/jam band/electronica feel

DPI in photoshop is here:

image > image size > Pixels/Per Inch (300 is pretty standard for print, while 72 is for the web)

Also are you putting the text on the cover in Photoshop or a print / publishing program? (EX: Quark, InDesign)

im using photoshop cs2 for everything.

ok since that one was done at 72 DPI, then what should i do. just use the same thing and stretch it to fit? or remake something entirely?

they have something else in mind that they want me to work on now... should i j/ move on to that?

Qwetty, I am surprised that you can be making these great digital images and yet you are unsure on how to change DPI?

That should have been Pshop 101.

You should NEVER stretch anything larger you lose quality of your picture.

I'd rebuild it.

Like Ando said streaching it will only pixelate the image.

It sucks but the finished product will look much better.

BTW, Photoshop Creative Suite (and CS2) is better at rendering hires text then the previous versions, so you should be OK with the text.

I should start teaching a PS class.....LOL!

ok so im remaking it now, but im having some issues. Here is the messege they sent me on myspace which describes what they want me to do next.

Moses keep up the good work, I like what you did with the logo. I want to use it for our battle of the bands ad at columbia street july 20th. Check out Whatz Up magazine in the comming weeks to see if its in there. I dont know if this will make sense but could you possibly come up with a design of a face or maybe a whole figure with the look of them shouting at the top of their lungs. The album is called testimony

how should i go about the face. I have design ideas, but do u think i should get an actual picture as a base, or completely design it? (i dont want to violate copyright laws, and im not sure how they work... therfor j/ finding a pic on google or osmethign might not be the best choice) I could of course take a picture of someone posing.
