So to the *average* user it really means little?
What if I wanted to incorporate a wirelss router for a laptop downstairs?

Actually a great list. The thing with HOME vs. PRO is that they are the 'same', but different.
They both function near identical and unless you know what you are looking at you wouldn't ever know. I don't understand the 'concept' behind the two being sold the way they were...I guess it just eliminates the ability for a 'home user' to really BREAK the system. They don't have access to things as easily as the 'computer guy' would.
Networking was so much more point and click with PRO also. You could seriously fight with HOME for hours if not DAYS just getting your network to play nice...
Access to tools as with PRO is a tremendous bonus for someone like myself. However the majority of you wouldn't know what half of them were let alone what they actually DO...hell, there are commands/tools available in PRO that I have no clue how to use...I learn new ones every week and put them on my list of 'thats how the hell you do that' items...
Thanks for the link...it points out a few GOOD differences...that aren't actually differences in reality..
If that makes sense....heh

Ollie...I have XP Home on three machines at home, and two of them are on my wireless router, the third one is wired to the network. I also have a linux box, two OSX boxes and a work laptop (XP PRO) that I VPN into work with...
I chose Home because of the cheaper cost...haven't regretted it.
EDIT:
Oh, and if you need any help installing stuff and can't get hold of Chris, my son does freelance work:
