I'm confused. Who hates hip-hop on this board?

every post concerning hiphop is ignored by the vast majority of this board. even if a comment is made on a hiphop thread, its not like any of you actually show up to hiphop events. so, sharkman, go back and look at threads reguarding rap and you will also see that they go mostly ignored. i wasnt calling you out, i was stating an observation.

as a matter of fact anyone outside the little fwm.com cliques are largly ignored. unless one of you gets pissed off, then its gang up time.
like i said there are a few exceptions, but i dont think ive ever seen you at a hiphop event.

Probably not. But then again, I usually only go to (maybe) one show a month. But do you know what I look like? 8)

Posts are ignored for a couple of reasons.

Your promoting to the wrong crowd. If a white female promoted her acoustic showcase at a local coffee shop on the Hip Hop forum, how much traffic is that thread gonna see?

It isn't a *bad* thing to say that any forum attracts a certain clientele. It is inevitable. A persons 'popularity' typically is based upon their involvement, demeanor and contribution. To step up and blanketly say that everyone on here "HATES" Hip Hop, only fans the very flames that you make public.

Some gig announcements need no comment. If you post a thread about a gig with all needed factoids, other that a supportive line of text, it really need no additional commentary.

Sankofa is a perfect example of how this DOES work. He support bands of other genres, and they in turn return the favor.

NEVER is heard a discouraging word.

So While I am mildly offended by the suggestion that ANY performer is perceived as deliberately discounted by this site due to the style of music, I cannot help but wonder that if said band(s) have burned bridges in the past that may have effected this.

My $.02

For the record, I am not a huge Hip Hop fan and typically do not attend these shows. I have and will attend a Sankofa split headliner because I am impressed by what he does and BECAUSE he has gone out of his way to befriend me and the wife.

where has a bridge been burnt??
p1t2 has the full support of the hiphop community, and we all (the hiphop community) will continue doing our thing with or without the support of "outsiders". its awesome that kofa went out of his way to get you and your wife on his bandwagon. but, how many shows have you attended?? how many albums purchased??

hate may be a strong word, but your actions always speak louder!!

oh yeah, and...
how come everytime i state an openion on these boards YOU always have something to say. i stated an observation and you, as usual, caught feelings. the truth really does hurt.

I think it's a good idea to post shows on here regardless of the genre, especially since fortwaynehiphop.com has been down frequently.

It is, afterall, fortwaynemusic.com, so it *should* be all-encompassing. However, just like fortwaynehiphop.com, this board also has it's regulars....

At any rate, sometimes it's nice to know about shows even if you don't/can't/won't attend it and extra promotion never hurts.

So it's an "us or them" thing?
its awesome that kofa went out of his way to get you and your wife on his bandwagon. but, how many shows have you attended?? how many albums purchased??
From whom? From Hip Hoppers? Very few. I freely admitted this. From other bands and musicians? Dude. are you really asking me this? what do you think?

oh yeah, and...
how come everytime i state an openion on these boards YOU always have something to say. i stated an observation and you, as usual, caught feelings. the truth really does hurt.
EVERYTIME? everytime. I need examples of where I singled you out and chastised you for your opinion. Everytime?

The truth hurts? about what? That you think that EVERYBODY in here HATES hip hop?

Man, I just dont get it.

no you obviously dont. so, why are you trying to make something out of this??
quit being so emotional.
how many hiphop shows have you attended??

honestly it is an us and them thing. i didnt make it that way, and would like to change that. but, for now, it is what it is. weather you and me like it or not.

i stated an openion made from observation. if its not true show me how im wrong.

Never mind.

I AM an over-emotional, self-serving, non-supportive asshat with an overwhelming dislike of anything musically local, or hip hop related.

Good call. Thanks for correcting me.

I nearly forgot who I was for a second.

Gee it's great that this site is back up and running. I certainly missed the wee little dramas that it has to offer.

My suggestion, for what it's worth................shut up and ROCK the f-ing house! No matter who is in the crowd, who buys your discs, or who hates you. You just better enjoy what you're doing and do it well. Only then will you start to gather a crowd and the praise that you deserve.

t2t......this is not just for you. It's for ALL of us!!!
