Well I took some time off from FortWayneMusic.com after the new year. I still have tons of work to catch up on with my business before coming back in full force to the site. However, today I am working my way back in.
I recently received a few press kits/demos that I have sitting on my desk, awaiting review.
I have a medium sized list of items I still need to finish on the site, along with some backend administration stuff that needs re worked.
When I first started work on the new concepts for FortWayneMusic.com back in July (I think), I installed a system for our staff content (aka features). This was when I was in my infant stages of understanding DB programming so, I had little option but to use someone else's script.
I had no idea that I was going to pick up DB programming so quickly! With that knowledge, I started developing my own scripts for the site. While some remnants of Garr's 2008 CMS system exist, the new site is completely built on my scripts except the Staff Content Submission system. I kept it for its nice WYSIWYG editor but the system itself was riddled with bugs.
I whole heartedly believe that these bugs, which are VERY annoying, are slowing the process of updating the site's NEW Features section. I, myself, dread having to log into it for fear of the errors I will receive when posting content. This journal entry was entered in manually via phpMyAdmin just because I didn't feel like dealing with it.
So, my point is that something needs to be done. I am going to build a new system for the staff to accomplish adding content with ease. No promises, but I am going to try to have it done sometime next week.
