I am starting to get a sense of paranoia and a distrust for the rest of the world.

If you do, that's because you make more money than you did a few years ago. Everyone's tax rates came down. The only way you could possibly be paying more is if you were making more money.Haggard wrote:I am still waiting on one positive thing he has done for us working class folk. The tax cut doesn't cut it, because right now I pay much more in taxes than I did even a few years back.

right on, boyo. I do make more, and pay more. If I made a lot more I would pay a lot less.bassjones wrote:If you do, that's because you make more money than you did a few years ago. This system cannot be reformed or voted out of office because reforms and elections do not challenge the fundamental causes of injustice.

No, you would pay a lot more, actually. Your percentage goes up as you move into higher tax brackets. Your dollar amount then goes up as well. I'm personally in favor of a flat tax or user tax, take your pick. Neither party wants to touch that with a ten-foot-pole though.

I didn't... becasue even thought I was a taxpayer and had a full time job. I still lived with my parents for a portion of the year.WBOB wrote:whats a presidernt??

But I'll stick with one for the moment.
I benefited personally from the 2001 tax cuts.
(and I'm so dreadfully tired of the line I keep
hearing about tax cuts only for the rich, because
I'm not)
[b]Okay, think of what little patience I have as, oh, I don't know, your virginity. You always thought it would be there, until that night Junior Year when you were feeling a little down about yourself and your pal Kevin, who just wanted to be friends, well, he dropped by and he brought a copy of About Last Night and a four-pack of Bartels & James and woo hoo hoo, it was gone forever - just like my patience is now.

So you'll be paying lower tax rates while making more money?bassjones wrote:Yes, along with the continual lower tax rates I pay every year, especially as my income goes up when I finish my degree next month...
Do you follow the "trickle down" theory and believe it works?Seriously, this economy is kicking ass right now. And, as Reagan said, that benefits everyone, not just the rich.

Makes me miss when someone who had the time to argue with the "conservative army" was around (jojo)...Massage...Bored wrote: I was wondering how long it would take the Right Wing Army to retaliate. Now all we need is General Bwog and Corporal WBOB, then we have the whole regiment.
Between WORKING A FULL TIME JOB and GOING TO SCHOOL FULL TIME, I don't have the time & energy left to try to talk sense into this political forum...

The top tax brackets got cut more than the bottom tax brackets did. I'll still be in a higher bracket though.Grindspine wrote:So you'll be paying lower tax rates while making more money?bassjones wrote:Yes, along with the continual lower tax rates I pay every year, especially as my income goes up when I finish my degree next month...

Yes, I believe the trickle down theory works and I believe the unbelievable economic growth of the last 25 years can be attributed directly to it working. All you have to do is look at home ownership rates to see how well it works.
