You might be right - objection might have been the wrong choice of words. However, at the end of the day when you name your band you sometimes have to think of the limitations a name will place on your marketing potential.

It's kinda like getting a tattoo over half of your face, you have every right to do it, but don't get pissy if I refuse to hire you.

I imagine the TF guys knew that some people would object and take down their flyers when they chose the name. It's actually serving them pretty well. I bet this is the most traffic our Written Word section has seen in a while - and it's all for their flyer. They've created a buzz - we're prolonging it with this whole discussion - everybody here has already won.

interestingly, according to Gene Simmons, the reason KISS is named KISS is because the label wouldn't them use f**k due to marketing considerations. When you choose a name like that, you do so with the objective of offending and making yourself an "outsider". Then when message boards censor your flyers you can b*tch and moan about it and draw attention to yourself that way...

b*tch and moan all you want. People know the rules. Just the same way that this comes up about once every three months, I'll continue to point out the relevant points.

The rules state that we don't allow profanity in most areas.
The rules state that we reserve the right to edit, move, delete, etc.
Users agree to follow the rules when they sign up.
We're interested in having this site as family friendly as possible.
We're trying to make this a marketable site worthy of attracting sponsors.
Though people may be upset by the fact that posts are censored, we have a greater responsibility to the entire community and not just the ones who like to act offended because there are certain things we don't want on the boards.
Though the lines are fuzzy in many areas, some are blatant and this one crosses that bright, glaring "no profanity" line.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple, but it's not like anyone cares what I say.

bottom line is, you old geezers need to pull the corks out of your rear ends and lighten up a little, what fun is the site if everything has to be moderated.

and as far as sponsors go, profanity dont mean MALARKY when it comes to sponsors, pornoe message boards are flooded with sponsors, and not all of them are for "get your member 15 inches bigger" pills.

Rezin, I'm convinced that you seldom know what you're saying.

Outside of owning the server and paying the bills, Chris is almost completely uninvolved with this site. I've been running it for about 6 months now and I only consult him on issues requiring money. As always, if you don't like the rules that the majority of our users choose to respect, you don't have to subject yourself to them.
