I think it would be most effective if performances started at 9 sharp.

to name a few

being the first band of the round one year I know that I liked that we started late. This gives promise that some people other then just your fans may filter in before your start time.

Very much so. When the idea that you can show up late and still see the bands you wanted to see starts to sink in the crowds start showing up later and later...and the bands then start to wait longer and longer...and the evil cycle snowballs out of control.

You start a few shows dead on time...your true fans will start being there on time...and that will in turn lead to the cycle reversing itself...

Easy as that...

Oh...and I should add...there is NO reason the judges should be there ANY time different that EARLY...

No excuse there...
