Downtown Renovations
Sure the city is starting to look better, but.... the only reason people from out of town go downtown is to pay speeding tickets. We are wasting our tax money. Build a new baseball stadium since the Wizard's games are all SOLD OUT right.

"If you build it they will come." I do not want to see a downtown baseball stadium. I would like to see some sort of large multi-use sports facility though. Bigger than Spiece and downtown, now that would be cool and it would be a great attraction to out of town people. Better restaurants downtown would be nice too. Any kind of river front attraction would help a great deal as well. Look at what other cities our size and general makeup are doing and model some of those. Chattanooga, TN has gone from crap-heap to nice city in less than 2 decades. There are similar stories as well.

More parties at Big John's house.
The Art Factory Live Outdoor Concert Series.
Honestly, downtown isn't so bad. It could use more and varied shops and restaurants open when people aren't at work, but if you could name anything that would attract people, chances are it's already there and most people would just rather go to Carmike for bring your own bucket night. There are a lot of landowners with downtown property that are just sitting on it, hoping it will get purchased by someone big, rather than rented by a tiny shop that will close before the lease is up.

I thought there was an existing law
in Indiana that gambling casinos were
allowed if "on water",...(definition's a little hazy)
eg: Evansville has one on the Ohio river,
Hammond has one on Lake Michigan...
could be wrong....
Those ar bodies of water outside the borders of the state, though.

Passengers hoping to do a little gambling on Indiana riverboats should be prepared for a long time out on the water. Boats offering gambling activities must cruise for approximately four hours. (Of course, employees as well had better be ready to spend a considerable amount of time away from dry land.) The state also allows passengers to gamble thirty minutes before and after the actual cruise. Indiana gaming riverboats may be either historic or modern vessels of at least 150 feet, accommodating a minimum of 500 passengers. All types of table games and slot machines are allowed.
....the one in Hammond might be on a river, once again, not sure.

From:But here's the goofiest thing of all. If the boat doesn't move, you still can't board after the assigned cruise time. The Indiana Gaming Commission has decided, in its wisdom, that, if the boat is held in the dock, it's still on a "virtual cruise." No new passengers can board until the next cruise time. (Passengers are allowed to get off the boat, however. I guess this would be called "virtual jumping overboard and swimming to shore.")
