Do you have to be under the influence in order to perform??

I like to be under the influence of the almighty Satan himself since he is, as we all know, the source of all this damn rock and roll music.

Or a few Guiness and a half pack of Camel regulars is nice as well---warms the throat.

It doesn't matter matter for me. I usually decided whether or not to drink by where I am playing at. If I am playing downtown at O's, I won't drink since I have to drive home. But if I am playing at Side Pocket, I will get hammered because I can walk if I need to.

I find that a beer or two loosens me up and helps me play better. Any more than that and the music suffers and isn't the music what it's all about? Oh, and second the good call on walking...

I've walked home from CSW.

Also, I used to take a pitcher up on stage and drink from that. I never got so drunk that I screwed up a show, but I'm also 300 pounds. . .sooooo. . .not at all like a bassist from a band I was in who got so drunk that he knocked over my 4x12 cabinet and my rack w/ amp.

I don't HAVE to drink at a show.

It just so happens that mostly EVERY show I play is at a bar.

Bars have beer.

If I'm playing I ususally get FREE beer.

Why deny yourself free beer? Makes no sense to me.

Back in the day I used to get my head right before we played, but now I'm old, and out of shape, and decided to switch to drumming, so I have to gulp down coffee and a few Tylenol before play time.

I have a 4 drink limit. I make sure I only have 4 drinks or less before taking the stage. But, I do agree it helps me losen up a lot though.
