no drugs, no booze, etc... walking the straight and narrow. Probably a Christian hardcore band.

I am not straight edge, but from what I understand most people who are are not Christian. In fact, I think the movement may have originally been solely athiests.

That would make sense considering geographical location.

Split and moved here in order to prevent the hi-jacking of the original thread post.

I fear that soon bars will be the definition of straight edge if we keep up these damn laws.

Cannot Drink, Smoke, or Swear within 20 feet of any bar.

You just wait :)

prohibition all over again. we need a cigar speakeasy in this town, so a fella can enjoy a good stinky cigar and a glass of brandy with his friends. no women and no cigarettes! :)

About Straight Edge - A Definition of Sorts

By XXX Will Ulwick XXX XRevLordNikonX

(wulwick@smcvt.edu)

[I wrote this about a year ago in response to all the sh*t that went down/still going down, mainly on the west coast, with kids bringing trouble to the scene. It pissed me off so I wrote this and published in in our college newspaper here at Saint Michael's College in Vermont. So I thought that I would send it your way to see if you thought that it was interesting enough to post.]

STRAIGHT EDGE

In the underground hardcore/punk music scene there is a growing group of young people that call themselves “straight edge.â€

I'm straight edge, and I know a lot of straight edge kids who give the "label" a bad rep, because they try to force their opinions and lifestyle on others. In reality, a lot of straight edge kids don't care what other people do. I have a lot of friends who drink and do drugs, and I could care less, it's just not something I'm necissarily interested in. But I totally understand why a lot of people look down on straight-edge kids, simply because of the few bad seeds who ruin it for everyone else.

We used to play with a lot of straight-edge and Christ-core bands at Sunset. I wouldn't have known the difference from any other edge or core unless they started talking about "we don't do drugs or women" and "we wrote this for Jesus" between songs.

I'm going to start an indulgadarwin-core band. Anyone wanna join? :)
