I just got a seemingly amazing deal on ebay a few days ago. I won a 20" A custom crash for $21.50 + shipping.

The cymbal had one crack and has already been drilled. I figured, "I've already got an adequate setup...even if it only lasts me a couple months, I couldn't beat that deal."

I don't really lay into cymbals that hard anyway, so I'm betting it will last me. I'll come back with an update on condition and sound.

Anyone else ever gotten a hella good deal like this?

PRS Soapbar II SE, new with the gig bag, for $299 during a ridiculous 3-day sale at GC last Thanksgiving. Rocks your face off, dirt cheap.

'77 fender p-bass and fender bass rig for $300. my dad got it for me when i was in high school off a crackhead that worked at gm with him. after about $200 worth of pick up and electrical work it was a gem. i gave it to my uncle when i stopped playin bass and he still has it today.

my uncle also scored a '76 les paul custom, with gold trim, off a guy, for installing a toilet and sink in his basement. the equipment only ran him a couple hundred and he installed it on a sunday morning. not bad for what is one of the best sounding guitars i've ever heard.

I sold my soul to the devil for some bitchin' dance moves.

Not much call for "The Sprinkler, "The Lawnmower" or "The Hustle" anymore.

I should have traded up earlier.

Okay, so after some shipping "delays", I finally received the cymbal in the mail. Looks nice, the lettering is faded a bit and there are two cracks.

There are actually two cracks, instead of one as I previously mentioned and neither have been drilled or cut out.

One is approximately 1/2" long, and the other larger crack is approximately 1" long. Both of them begin on the edge and creep inward, both are also straight and have no off-shoots.

So my next question is, have any of you drilled or cut out cymbal cracks? What were your experiences, any anecdotal advice? What can I expect in terms of time when, or if, the cymbal will crack again?
