I realize Garr was trying to be funny, but the reality is that RG brought a TON of attention to the FW scene back in 2000 and really helped pave the way for other bands to be allowed to play originals on weekends around town. Back then you could go to a RG show and see members of Abraham, SDB, Black Tooth Grin, Strut Train, Fawn Liebowitz, etc. You just don't see that kind of support anymore. If somebody wanted to get on stage and jam, that was a *good* thing, not a reason to kick someone in the nuts.
I think you're absolutely 100% wrong on this. Maybe you're just not hitting up the right shows.

how about i inform you that name calling, and hijacking threads runs rampant in this online community and it is really annoying. Kid asked a question, it got off topic. question was answered.

Who's trying to instigate? I'm just trying to get this stuff to stop unlike some of the moderators on the board, because its always annoying, petty, and immature to say it, and it equally as annoying when experiencing it.

you are forgeting that the mods and admin run the site and do thier job as they see fit. no mod did anything against tos in this thread. It was not hijacked either. If a conversation spins off of the original topic, that is not hijacking. Hijacking would be like this....

Someuser: "I want to know how to play a rosemary gates song."

Otheruser: "I love rule 7, go to our show! One night only Oct 25 1692 check your sundail!!!!!!!"

So, in real life, when you have a casual conversation with another person do you stop when the questioned is answered, or do you drift off to another topic?

Name calling? Really? When did I do that? I don't think I did. Maybe I should go reread my post. Hijacking? Are you kidding? I think that my post was directly on topic. In fact, it helped the topic get even deeper. Perhaps you should rethink your personal definition of when a thread is hijacked. As far as I'm concerned, whether the initial thesis of the thread is discussed or that thread itself is discussed (i.e. the meta-topic), or the discussion branches into legitimate segues, then the discussion is valid.

If you feel that you can better handle moderating the events on this board that go wrong (most of which you NEVER SEE because we MODERATE THEM!), then why don't you ante up and volunteer to give some of your time.

The last thing I need is more asshats like you trying to tell me how to do a job you a) know nothing about and b) fall short of making a positive contribution to.

(by the way, THAT was name calling AND you have managed to actually hijack this thread, as now it's nowhere near being about the original topic. Thanks.)

ditto. to Garr and Seve both. Now, back on topic... RG sounds like a cross between Pearl Jam and Creed to me... oh wait, I already said that. And for the record that's not a slam. I like Pearl Jam, hate Creed, and I think RG is closer to Pearl Jam.

I (for those who know me) was a HUGE Pearl Jam fan for their first 5 albums. I also really liked the first two and a half Creed albums. It's no insult to say a band sounds like another band unless someone finds it insulting to be compared to multi-platinum selling bands.

I'll say it again, I think that RG writes/wrote good music and I enjoyed listening to it. I think they did awesome things in the studio and made some of the most professional sounding recordings to come out of Fort Wayne at that time. I'd say Sirface came next in line as far as rock/metal bands were concerned.

I'm sure that Earshot gets REALLY tired of being told that they sound like Tool. I'm sure that Silvertide gets overly angered at being compared to The Black Crows. Throw in that I'm sure SRV got sick of being told he sounded just like Albert King. . .the list goes on and on and on. You just can't deny some similarities.

Yeah it isn't like he said they sound like White Hot noise...that, my friend, would be an insult...:)

This borders along hijack, but isn't a hijack...a hijack takes things WAY off topic...the entire topic is STILL relating to Creed...or I mean Rosemary Gates...so not a full hijack...just a little of a 'sub-topic' more than anything...
