what do you think about ska, reggae and punk rock music?

well hmmm. ska isnt quite what i was looking for, but a ska/reggae/punk mix might be ok. I dont like "punk" music rly by itself, but anything mixed with reggae can be cool. Can i get a lil more info though baout what ur idea is?

For this idea...being a collaboration of all of theese genres (punk, ska, reggae) i would first off state that the bass guitar licks would be carrying the same melody as the vocal harmony...by this i mean if the vocals were to be " do re mi fa so la ti da" then the bass would be right there with the vocals but only an octave lower going "do re mi fa so la ti da".. so in conclusion, in the central melody of a tune with these genres meshed together the bass and vocals will be the melody. But what about the guitar? Well traditionally in regaae music the guitar keeps the rythm and usually on the up beat....so what if we had it keep the ryhtm on the downbeat? (like every punk song ever) and hell we could even have the guitar distorted the whole time. so that takes care of the vocals, bass, and guitar. Now the drums...since the guitar is keeping the tempo on a constant, why not have the drums be everywhere?
what if the drums were silent at times...but then out of nowhere they bursted out with some prolonged fills at the high points of the tune?
...this might not have made any sense whatsoever...but in reality we would just have to get together and see whats hot and whats not
