IU players wearing Sampson's initials...

Would YOU support KS if you were part of the IU basketball program?

If I was a 19 year old basketball player that thought I knew everything, and despite KS screwing the school, still liked the guy, yes...

Otherwise, no. He broke NCAA rules, has dragged the IU program down (not that I care) and shouldn't be applauded for his behavior. I mean, this is the second program he's basically been fired from for the same recruiting violations...

I agree with your 'otherwise' statement.

I say it's time to support your CURRENT coach instead of sending him the message that you don't think he should have Sampson's old job.

If he recruited me and was responsible for my being at that school, yes.

Yeah he made a huge mistake, and in a way, he's really screwed over those kids in a big way by not being there for them for the rest of their season or for the rest of their college careers as they had planned (those that stay at least).

But at the same time, it seems like they connected with him in a personal way. You didn't see players with BK on their shoes when Bobby was fired, but he was crazy. A good coach, but probably not the kind of guy you like to call a friend. If the players were at all connected to Sampson in an off-court way, they were probably very hurt that he had to step down whether he messed up or not. Most people support their friends or family if they goofed big, and I could see that being the case.

Yeah, but I don't see KS as a man that is more interested in the kids. I mean, there are very few coaches out there that put more weight in their kids than in winning and the "program". But, maybe KS really connected with these kids and that's why he wanted to make sure he got them on his team, regardless of the NCAA rules...maybe...
