The NBA

Post by Morphine Child »

It's too bad not many people here are interested in this league anymore. I am, and I'm hoping a few other people are!

The West gets more and more wild as the trade deadline approaches:

Jason Kidd traded to the Mavericks - he's getting old, so I don't think it will help them too much. I never had much faith in that team though (think Golden State upset last year in the first round).

Shaq to Phoenix - I sat there for awhile thinking, "Huh?" He's past his prime, slow (unlike the Suns' pace), and injured every other week. Shawn Marion is awesome, I don't know why the unloaded him. I think he had some problems with management.

Pau Gasol to the Lakers - easily the biggest trade to happen. Because the Lakers got Pau for NOTHING! Kwame Brown sucked! The Lakers became instant contenders...look for them to dominate people come playoff time and Andrew Bynum's return. They just finished a 9 game road trip 7 - 2...without their young star center...look out! Oh, and Kobe's finger is FINE.

Out East:

The Celtics? Exciting! They'll probably be there deep in the playoffs.

The Pistons? Not exciting! But they keep winning some how...though they've fizzled out in the playoffs since that lucky upset against the Lakers in '04.

Lebron and the Cavs? Exactly that...LeBron and the cavs...

Finals match up?

Lakers VS. Celtics = one hell of a series!

Anymore, I think I'd rather watch Soccer than an NBA game.

I blame it all on David Stern for over-marketing Michael Jordan. Too bad. The NBA still has one or two exciting teams. It's those damn Spurs that keep winning and no one cares about!

I just noticed this comment. Comparing the NBA and Nascar is ridiculous.

Some folks just don't get it.

I watched both games on Sunday and both were pretty good. Pistons are looking really good right now. Best starting 5 in basketball and now they've solidified their bench too and may just have the deepest bench in the league as well. Pistons will beat the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals and will beat the Spurs in the NBA Finals.

I wouldn't exactly say the Pistons have fizzled in the playoffs or that they got lucky against the Lakers. They went to the finals the next year and would have won it had 'Sheed remembered to guard Big Shot Bob on the inbounds pass, then they've been to the Eastern Conference Finals every other year. Phoenix made a HUGE mistake and Dallas didn't help themselves either. Lakers trades were big, but if Bynum and/or Gasol aren't 100%, they aren't going anywhere.

Unless David Stern manipulates the officials again (Bulls/Pistons '91; Lakers/Kings; etc...) the Finals will be Pistons/Spurs, as much as he'd like to see Celtics/Lakers. If we get Celtics/Lakers I'm calling conspiracy right now.

because no one else aid michael to hold their product for 30 seconds.

are the air jordans someone elses shoe, or have i been lied to all these years?

stern isnt the only one who marketed the shite out of jordan, it was a number of companies.

but it was well deserved.

the NBA just lacks "heroes" like back in the day, at least thats what i think.

I'm curious to watch even the East playoffs this year. Like you said, Boston and Detroit is going to go at it, and it's going to be intense. It's amazing Detroit has kept that core together for so long.

The West teams are all showing their weaknesses towards the end. LA pounded the Jazz at home last night, and walked in to the lane for dunk after dunk. The Spurs are on a losing skid. The Rockets have come down from their losing streak (getting blown out two games in a row). You're totally right about Phoenix and Dallas. The Lakers freaked everyone out into trading big names for big names, and it killed both teams. The Spurs...I'd like to write them off, but I can't. They're always dangerous. I think they're f### everyone else. The Lakers will be very very dangerous when Gasol, Ariza, and Bynum all come back. They're winning right now (against Dallas and Utah in the last few days) with no 7 footer! They'll be so deep when the others come back, they'll be scary for the next five or so years. All the guys are locked up in long term deals too. I hope Bynum gels back in with the team, and him and Gasol work things out downlow. That will be the most dangerous front court the league has seen in awhile.

I see LA vs. Celtics in the finals. I'm a huge lakers fan, but I won't even predict the result of that. Conspiracy or not. :)
