The Ultimate Fighter 5 (Final 4)

Post by The_Dude »

TONIGHT!

Nate Diaz -vs- Gray Maynard
Joseph Lauzon -vs- Manuel Gamburyan

I'm predicting the finale will be Diaz -vs- Lauzon and that'll be one hell of a match. If Diaz doesn't get his ass stomped by Karo Parisyan beforehand...

I was wrong.

The finale will be Diaz -vs- Gamburyan. Lauzon choked on a bag of d*cks last night.

June 23rd: Diaz -vs- Gamburyan, Pulver -vs- Penn 2

Go Jens!

Manny is a beast. I was very glad to see him dominate the way he did. He seems like an extremely tough opponent to take control of. Lauzon will be back and will definitely be a contender down the road. He has some huge potential.

Was also very glad to see Nate going to the final. He was throwing submission attempts like a mad man and that is what I love to see from someone pulling guard. Maynard needs to do some more work on the other aspects of his game before he comes back.

Like Dana White said...I've been underestimating Manny this entire time. I've picked him to lose all of his fights.

As for Diaz...I can't decide whether or not I like the kid. He's got this street punk thing going on that doesn't sit well with me. BUT...he is fun to watch. So...

This is going to be a tough one to call. Diaz has a huge height advantage and a 3-4" reach advantage, I believe.

Ideally, I'd like to see Diaz win just because Manny never shuts up. This one could go either way. I'll say Diaz wins via armbar in the 2nd.

PS...I would have been pissed at Parisyan if I were Diaz, too. Dude was walkin' around acting like nobody was worthy of him. "I'm a tough UFC fighter!" is the attitude he was sporting. Like he was playing mentor and babysitter at the same time or something.

Diaz would've gotten smoked, though. Karo is a badass.

I like him as a fighter, but I don't necessarily care for the whole "street punk" thing either.

I am predicting Diaz to win by submission as well. However, if Nate can't submit Manny, I see Manny winning be keeping control of the fight with the ground and pound.

I completely agree. I had no idea that Karo was such a cocky ass and so high and mighty. I lost a whole lot of respect for the guy with his display.

Some of that is editing though...I am sure Karo is near what he appeared, maybe just as bad, but I can't wholly form an opinion on him...or, I guess I should say, I will not judge him entirely based on what I saw on the show.

But with all that being said, I do agree and he did lose some respect from me:)

I agree, some of it is editing. BUT...you can't edit attitude and he was definitely sporting the "holier than thou" attitude.

What really got me was when he was like..."Do you know who you're messing with?"

All the BS aside...Parisyan is fun as hell to watch.

I would think a lot of it has to do with these fighters being jealous of all the exposure the ultimate fighters can get through the show. I think I would have a bit of a chip on my shoulder, kinda feeling like the ultimate fighters are getting an easier path than others...
