Why Oden Should Not Return - Durant either

Post by bassjones »

Exhibit A. Joakim Noah - had he come out last year he was a lottery pick. As of last night, late first rounder at best. His weaknesses were exposed. He's tall, athletic, good defender, and passes the ball very well. He's got an ugly as hell jumper and can't handle the rock.

Exhibit B. Taurean Green - see A. Had a tough time handling the rock against Conley Jr. last night and against Collison Saturday. Can shoot the rock from 3, but is NOT an NBA point guard - from sure 1st round pick to probable 2nd round.

Then again.... Corey Brewer went from mid 1st round pick to top 5 by coming back. But, Oden/Durant will already go 1 and 2 in the draft. Nowhere to go but down and/or injured.

But if they stay another year and fall a few spots, maybe they won't end up stuck playing for the Grizzlies and Celtics.

w/ the nba's lottery system there are no guarantees. it could be a team that's a player away - the Knicks with Patrick Ewing, the Spurs w/ Tim Duncan after David Robinson was hurt all year, etc... as well.

If I were in their position, I'd go in a heartbeat. Most people would.

If someone offered you $5,000,000/year for what you do now, would you say "No thanks...I'll pass and maybe a better offer will come my way if I stick around for another year to gain some experience."

Too many if's.

It's a business decision. Show me the money!

exactly. I'd do it for 1/10th of that kind of money. offer me 500K a year to play music. I'd do almost anything you want me to do for 500K a year playing music, let alone 5 Million. To stay is just foolish.
