I finally got around to editing the color version.

Any opinions?

I like the b&w better. I'd actually like to see the b&w with the blue eyes, but that may be a bit too trendy...

And maybe its just my monitor, but the color background kinda lightens at the bottom, whereas the b&w seems to stay the same tone throughout...

Like I said, its possible, but I do use this very same setup for my own photo editing, so it pretty much dialed in...

Are you not seeing the difference in backgrounds between the two images?

In the color version you can actually see the black felt backdrop. The B&W version's contrast is such that the slight differences in color are not apparent.

Both images were processed separately from the same RAW file, so different processes were used to get to the final images.

Is the background distracting it would be simple to darken it?

For me, seeing the felt backdrop, at least in the bottom left-hand corner being slightly lighter, draws me away from the face...slightly. I don't think it is a big deal, as I didn't notice it until I looked at it with a "critical eye". If its easy to darken, I'd do it.
