Question for local Artists

If I had a space for a members only group of local artists to access 24 hours a day for a small monthly dues would you be interested in joining if it were only 15-30 a month?

this is pretty acurate but based on memory. as long as you dont mind the occassion band practice noise next door I think this is a perfect location especially with the huge sinks.

what is in the studio? will it be stocked, or do you bring your own gear?

will you maybe do classes out of here?

will it be set up for graphic artists as well? a nice machine with CS3, perhaps?

Well there are currently a group of us artists (still using the name FortSAC) that meet for what we call Whiskey and Art Night every other sunday. We currently meet at Sunset Hall. We are looking for a more permanent place as well as a some more members. This place is completely empty except my band (you, garr, have been to our section of the building when trying out for severence).

What I would like to do is set the dues to meet the rent requirement as well as the setup a small fund to get a stock of very basic art supplies.

As time progresses and the group grows I would like to take over the whole building then some classes may be possible but with 10+ members using the roughly 650 sq ft space I think classes would be tough.

I am going to setup one of my old machines there with a CS2 and Macromedia MX2004 get up. It will be public while I am there but I would prefer to have it off limits at all other times. I would also look into the idea of setting up other rooms in the building as computer stations for rent. Maybe 2 or 3 desks in each room. You would pay a larger ammount of dues and have to bring your own equipment.

its all up in the air with the possibility of some great potential but I want to get it the ball rolling and see where it goes.

That building has been vacant now for over a year (except us who have been there for 3+ years) so I think I can pull some strings on prices for rent.

Right. Well, it sounds like a good idea. I have at least an interest. It would be nice to have a place to get away and get my mind in the mode for creation. I can't get anything done at home. Too many distractions. Too many other things to do.

I might be into this depending on the final details.

Yeah I hear ya on working at home. When I had my first biz, my office in Georgetown became my new home. Right now I dont have it too bad, my girlfriend leaves at like 8am to drop off her kids at daycare and go to work until 7pm. So I get the apt to myself all day. Its good for computer work but there is no room here for my asle and all that jazz and this space is also walking distance from my apt so it would be pretty nice.

I have wanted to do something with this building for a long time, I hope this all works out. Sunset has been nice, we have been using the old vip room upstairs next to armands apt so we can be alone and all that but the drive out there sucks a donkey d*ck.

I am a local artist and I would like to meet with other artists and musicians. The Whiskey & Art Night sounds good, but I've been doin that for years. I do have some assets to offer. Are you trying to rent space for a studio or just get a dues paying group together?

I have space in mind already to rent just looking for the members.
