Saddam to be hanged by Sunday
Ex-dictatorâ€™s execution expected to be carried out by start of Eid holiday

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, sentenced to death for his role in 148 killings in 1982, will have his sentence carried out by Sunday, NBC News reported Thursday. According to a U.S. military officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, Saddam will be hanged before the start of the Eid religious holiday, which begins this Sunday.

The hanging could take place as early as Friday, NBCâ€™s Richard Engel reported.

The U.S. military received a formal request from the Iraqi government to transfer Saddam to Iraqi authorities, NBC reported on Thursday, which is one of the final steps required before his execution. His sentence, handed down last month, ordered that he be hanged within 30 days.

Earlier Thursday, Saddamâ€™s chief lawyer implored world leaders to prevent the United States from handing over the ousted leader to Iraqi authorities for execution, saying the former dictator should enjoy protection from his enemies as a â€œprisoner of war.â€

Find it interesting that there seems to be an outcry
about the U.S. turning him over to his own country's
government for this. I thought we were suppose
to be the "purely evil ones" here.

There is talk of video-taping it and selling the tape. I think it makes more sense as a PPV, with all the profits going to help the families of the soldiers.

-beheading of anyone
-hanging of anyone
-shooting of anyone
-raping of anyone
-gutting of anyone

i do not care who it is, i do not care who's "offense" is greater.....i do not wish to view it. i do not wish to watch it.
i see enough folk die on their own.
i am not suggesting that these people do not need to die as payment for their misconduct, i am just relaying that i do not need to see it and/or pay monies i earn to watch such.
