regardless of your opinion regarding the way things are governed, societal norms or standards are set and they're called laws. regardless of whether these are enforced by borders (the simplified way to do it) or by martial force or some other method, the people who are members of the society that created those norms have a right to not have them violated by people who completely disregard them.

It isn't about people 'coming to America' it is about people getting a 'free ride'. For instance, I can't walk into ANY hospital and get FREE health care and walk out without them having the ability to come after me for that money. However, on a daily basis places like Parkview bring illegal immigrants in by the droves and make sure they are healthy and safe...they give them FREE drugs and send them on their way. They are 'non-profit' so they get HUGE kick backs for doing it...

I have a friend that moved to Austrailia almost 10 years ago now from the Detroit area...he did it LEGALLY and still has to have his papers ON HIM at all times...he wasn't able to get a JOB for the first year he was there either. He moved there because he got married to a girl that was from there. He admits that he loves it, but they don't take lightly to his being there...he knows his place.
You see immigrants of ALL nationalities on the news for one thing or another all the time...GOOD and BAD...people of the 'world' have a lot to offer, but there are borders for a reason...and until we as Americans can cross all borders as we wish and have the safety that comes with being on our own soil we need to do what we can to protect OUR borders and OUR people...
Also, quit bringing up the Indians, the pilgrims, and slavery when it comes to this issue...we are so much LESS guilty in those areas than other parts of the world are...not to condone our acquisition of the land, treatment of the natives, and use of others as slaves, but we are saints compared to MANY other countries in as recent as CURRENT times...outside of a few bad seeds our society has taken significant strides to educate itself and learn to 'get along'.

Are they going to spend the money to come after you? NO. i mean c'mon. most illegals are here simply for work to provide for their families. Here's a simple solution. Make becoming a guest worker really darn easy. Taxes are taken out for state and federal, but nothing for SS & Medicare. If you work for XXXX number of years, you get a fast track to citizenship.
Coming here, for those first few years, you are subject to a number of restrictions. Kids get to go to school, but they have to go and you have to be a part of their lives in school. This is usually not a problem. You can get insurance, but if you can't, you can get Medicaid for six months. f you don't speak English, you and your family will take classes. Yes, you will learn.
You get a drivers license after you pass the standard exam and tests. You carry insurance. Failure to do so subjects you to really bad things. State checks up with you every single month. Must pay at least three months in advance with a standard exam. An accident or ticket suspends your license. And don't drive without it....
And what are "really bad things"? Immediate imprisonment. Rights are only conveyed if you are a citizen (yes, I know....flashbacks to Starship Troopers). No rights, no trial. We'll know who you are by fingerprints and DNA test which is only used if you do something bad. No release. Prison time, then immediate deportation. Come back, rinse, repeat. Oh, and if you bring your family, they go too. Your kids screw up, the kid is gone. Back to wherever. Maybe they come back, maybe they don't. Sneak them back in and they are living with you, that's harboring a fugitive. Bye bye family.
Will bad things still happen? Of course. Is this better? Not necessarily. But it will give the ones that want to be here and productive something to work for, and the others really bad consequences for doing so.
And for those who hire or help someone who is here illegally? Bad news. You pay for the costs of keeping your friend in jail and shipping them home. Jail time if you were being really bad. Conspiracy to commit tax evasion sounds like an interesting charge.

The insurance that I PAY FOR would cover me if I was out of the country. I also would be in that country LEGALLY...That is a pretty lame argument. I wouldn't use a fake SS# either...because once again that is ILLEGAL. The point of the argument is NOT to do things ILLEGALLY...if I was to use a fake SS# that would be just as bad as the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS that are taking advantage of what they are NOT paying into.
Think smart like the bank robbers...try not to get caught. Think smart like the drug dealers...try not to get caught. If you want to be a criminal then fine...be one...however, when you get caught you should suffer the punishment associated with the crime. If you are an illegal alien and you get CAUGHT you should suffer a PUNISHMENT...kick them back to their country. If they are so 'smart' they will figure out how to feed their family and survive in THAT country...if they want to come HERE...fill out the paperwork...wait your turn...in the meantime...do what you CAN to make YOUR country a better place...and helll go get a job at GE...that is where our companies are going anyway...why leave.
Oh yeah...and when you go get that medical treatment they ask for ID...when you provide that ID you are paying...HERE...if you don't provide ID because of WHATEVER reason, they just help you and send you on your way and eat the cost...in other countries they will help you and then deport you...or treat you as their law dictates...but I assure you that law does not tell them to just let you walk away...as it is here.
Now the complexity of the situation here is that if you don't provide ID they will get the authorities involved...they will eventually find out WHO you are if in fact you are here LEGALLY...if you are not here legally then you are not going to be 'tracked down' and you are pretty much free to go...it is a little more complex than that of course, but I assure you that, myself, you, or anyone on these boards are NOT getting away FREE...
