Put them in our prisons so our tax money pays for them anyways?

So you work a bullsh*t job to help your child get an education thats not from a third world country

But you cant legally be in this country because you have a felony.

Is it wrong for people with those kinds problems to hope for more, for them and their children?

Do you ride your bike on the side walk? Probably. It's illegal. It's safer though. You know what i'm saying?
an entire post of non-sequitors. Can't say I'm surprised. Did you have a 3rd world edukasian?

Nope, it isn't wrong at all. It also isn't wrong to ask them to do it legally.

I don't think anyone is saying that immigrants aren't welcome. What they are saying is they need to make it legal.

I don't have any quotes here, but I don't think it is that expensive to get "proper looking" documentation. And I don't know the employment laws, but I don't think employers can dig too deep in checking that documentation...that's where a lot of the illegals are able to be here and work.

Anyways, my solution is to make Mexico a US territory, mine out all the natural resources, industrialize the country, open the border, commercialize the hell out of it...then you will see an increase in their standard of living and after a period, you'll see a happy equilibrium of populace across "borders".

ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. to answer deek's questions concerning paperwork, we should prosecute fraud severely. 30 years for assisting illegal immigrants to fraudulently maintain residency. That should cool things out a bit, especially after we actually prosecute and sentence 20-30 people.

Well, I DO have experience in this, and a LOT of it. I've checked the legal status of 300+ immigrants/residents/citizens (as your wife surely knows and has done more) and the extent to which we were allowed to investigate was to check for a valid photo ID, receive a SS Card, call SS to verify the information, and inform the applicant if they did not match.

That's it.

Getting real looking, system checking ID is approximately $500.00. Getting GOOD papers will run about $1000-$2000 depending on whom you know.

Though these people are here illegally, I have more tolerance for them because they are working under real SSNs and they are paying taxes and they are contributing to the economy instead of burdening it. I still don't like it, but I'm more tolerant of it.

I can see where you're coming from when it comes to protecting our borders, but...

30 YEARS for assisting illegal immigrants to fraudulently maintain residency? No wonder why the U.S. has the largest prison population in the world. Great solution, but I'm sure we can think of a better way to help rather than to make a person who helped another to work in our society rot in a federal prison for 30 YEARS. Prison is America's favorite answer for everything (drugs, tax fraud, etc.).

And about "anchor babies" - I don't think there is a good solution for this problem. It's morally unacceptable to punish a child for the crimes of the parent. Children shouldn't have to be responsible for their parents.

I can't pick up and go to Europe without a passport. If I want to move to another country there is most likely going to be documents. So I'm going to fill out the flipping documents, and do it procedurally and legally because that's how it's done. It's not like we're doing anything different than every other forking country in the world.

Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks to the Native Americans. f**k all the illegal immigrant white men that landed on Plymouth Rock and couldn't speak a word of the native language. they should have sent them all packing and killed the ones that stayed. If only the world could still be flat.

Try getting into Canada right now...you pretty much have to leave your first born at the gate until you head back to the US...

It isn't about people 'coming to America' it is about people getting a 'free ride'. For instance, I can't walk into ANY hospital and get FREE health care and walk out without them having the ability to come after me for that money. However, on a daily basis places like Parkview bring illegal immigrants in by the droves and make sure they are healthy and safe...they give them FREE drugs and send them on their way. They are 'non-profit' so they get HUGE kick backs for doing it...

Someone talking about the prison system being the largest in the world...there are plenty of 'illegals' in the prison system that need to be taken out and dropped back off at their country...

I have a friend that moved to Austrailia almost 10 years ago now from the Detroit area...he did it LEGALLY and still has to have his papers ON HIM at all times...he wasn't able to get a JOB for the first year he was there either. He moved there because he got married to a girl that was from there. He admits that he loves it, but they don't take lightly to his being there...he knows his place.

You see immigrants of ALL nationalities on the news for one thing or another all the time...GOOD and BAD...people of the 'world' have a lot to offer, but there are borders for a reason...and until we as Americans can cross all borders as we wish and have the safety that comes with being on our own soil we need to do what we can to protect OUR borders and OUR people...

Also, quit bringing up the Indians, the pilgrims, and slavery when it comes to this issue...we are so much LESS guilty in those areas than other parts of the world are...not to condone our acquisition of the land, treatment of the natives, and use of others as slaves, but we are saints compared to MANY other countries in as recent as CURRENT times...outside of a few bad seeds our society has taken significant strides to educate itself and learn to 'get along'.

Actually, the Indian/Pilgrim thing can be a history lesson to us. Unless we want to end up on a reservation in the middle of Mexico, we might want to think about enforcing our borders and protecting our language and culture.

Well, I agree with that sentiment. There were some dastardly bastards who cheated the (not so native) native Americans when they sailed here. If you know anything about anthropology, you know that the (so called) native Americans were actually immigrants themselves. There was this thing called the Bearing Land Bridge that connected North America with Asia where tribal Asians migrated here thousands of years ago.

Also, though I'm not condoning the behaviors of our forefathers, it's like holding me personally responsible for slavery in the early United States. I had nothing to do with it. It's a bit of a straw man argument to pull away from the real point which is the CURRENT state of affairs.

On top of that, the natives (whom we lied to and cheated horribly) did not have a concept of ownership. In fact, many of them were nomadic people or migratory and didn't have laws or rules set up for occupation (not that they could have enforced them). We have laws that the people who live here agree to and that our defense department has the means to enforce (though they choose not to).

Anyhow, it's all moot. We're here now. We have a problem with a soft invasion. If you want your children or grandchildren to have any kind of life or future, you better forking pay attention and protect that future.

Let them come in? They're already here: it's their forking planet too. As for the rest, like I said, call me when it's over. This sh*t was old news 10,000 years ago. Why are we still building pyramids, even if the wages are better? This is the future.

My suggestions, Ollie? Start working toward a North American Union first, and then a American Union second. Outlaw private/limited corporations and make public corporations accountable to the public like they used to be. Place tighter restrictions on lobbying and don't vote for anyone you think cuts the line too close. Make American companies and their supply chain follow US law even outside our borders. Find ways to use as little money as you can and make use of participatory alternatives when they're available (or join up with the Community Action Network and help make them more widely available in the area). Stop letting borders, money, and corporate property rights get in the way of knowledge that can benefit other people. Remember that social structures that work aren't necessarily moral. When making ethical decisions, never think in terms of arbitrarily scarce social constructs. Make every decision as if you were the anthropologist from Mars. Join a neighborhood association and push it to take real and meaningful actions. You never know what's going to work until you try.

I don't know what the future is going to look like, but if my grandchildren ever sing a national anthem, I'll be disappointed.

I am really tired of your 'it's their planet too...' argument...

I am coming over to YOUR house...taking all of YOUR stuff and not letting YOU enjoy the fruits of your labor...I am going to run up YOUR phone bill, YOUR gas bill, YOUR electric bill and YOUR water bill...I am going to violate you to whatever degree I wish...then when it is no longer a 'livable' environment I am going to head next door to your neighbors house and do the same thing...after all...it is MY house too...

A large number of them don't have a care in the world for our stuff nor respect for us in general. Anyone is welcome in MY house or MY country if they abide by the RULES in place and have respect. Once the line is crossed they have to GO...

I work entirely too hard to have MY life altered in a negative way. I encourage you to move to another country...and when you get there...try to work illegally, trash what you want, and have general disregard for the people and the surroundings...let's see how long you last...hell try that down in Mexico. The locals would string you up in a flash...
