WASHINGTON - A federal judge has ruled that an FBI raid in May on Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson's Capitol Hill offices was legal and constitutional - "There was no impermissible intrusion on the legislature."
The search of Jefferson's office on the weekend of May 20th was the first ever of a congressman's office in the history of Congress.
I for one am pleased with this. It's a good thing that congress isn't above the law and that they are unable to side step warrants.
This was a good ruling. I really liked the opinion, which basically read, "If we were to side with Mr. Jefferson, we would essentially be considering every congressman's office a sanctuary where any crime could be committed without fear of reprisal." Not the exact wording, but close from my recollection of reading it yesterday. They got this one right.
I found it interesting that so many GOP congressmen took Jefferson's side in this. You would think they would be jumping all over this after the way the Dems were hollering about the "culture of corruption" among the GOP leaders. They're all a bunch of scumbags. From the center out on both sides of the aisle, in both houses, and in all three branches. Throw them all out and start over...
