Yeah, most of his sources are probably made up. You're right. I should go back to watching FOX news where I'll get the real info!

I quit watching FOX after they were bought out by a Saudi prince and then sold out. And yes, they were and still are more reliable than anything Chomsky has to say.

I guess there is no point in taking this much further, but the guy takes a different approach than most in observing U.S. politics. He doesn't praise either side and he tells it how it is, it's not like he's making crap up. He's not inventing wars, he's not inventing terrorist attacks, he's not inventing policies, he's pointing out those which are frequently swept under the rug or largely ignored. Yeah, the dude has an opinion on these things, but he is a professor at MIT so he's not exactly an idiot.

Read "Hegemony and Survival", and if you still think he's full of sh*t, that's too bad. Until then...I have nothing left to say about this.

I'm sure I'm about to be massacred for saying this, but I just graduated high school, 2 years ago. the NCLB act is a damn good start in the right direction, but with everything else the last six years if has been butchered, miss used, misunderstood, and generally implemented incorrectly.
I passed the ISTEP GQE my first attempt, telling me that I was ready to graduate with a freshman education, at this point I gave up. From the end of my sophomore year I did none of my homework outside of school. I still graduated 19/ 128 with a low 11. something GPA. I also took graduated with an honors diploma and 2 years in vocational. the reason I gave up is that most of my teachers simply tried to teach the test, because better test scores lead to better funding.

to the best of my knowledge in the elementary your children will be assessed and grouped according to ability over achiever, average, and poor,
those with poor performance will be given lighter work loads, and simpler topics to work around. Average will be aiming for most of the state standards. while the over achievers will be pushed to exceed those standards. all the while the lower classes will not be pushed to do better and advance. Effectively teaching them that they should accept mediocrity.

As I said before the NCLB act is a good start. However it does need assessed and corrected.

The other great thing, ( for me anyhow) is the partial expiration of the Brady ban which allows me to buy high cap magazines and a few select fun toys. The continued support of the CMP program that enabled me to pick up a very nice M1 Garand for under 500 bucks. also I can buy Surplus .30-06 ammo cheap. 960 rds for $192. The government has been, not sure where it stalled at, allowing a federal carry permit to be enacted. not so much mandating the terms of CC but saying nation wide that if you have attained a permit to carry in your state that you may carry in all fifty.

Taxes for those of you bitching .

shut up. I make close to 30,000 a year and I will get a fair refund this year. I also pay in an extra 15 dollars per week ( 10 to the feds, 5 to the state) this ensures a nice check of almost 800 dollars. I think of it as a nice savings account. As far as percentages go the tax cuts do favor the rich. Your percentage go up with increased income levels, ability to pay theory, However once you start making either 120,000 or about 230,000( not sure which) your tax percentages begins to decrease. look it up and double check please.

Considering the circumstance, 9/11, fixing Clintons mistakes, dealing with congress only being in session 107 days, Rumsfeild not sending a large enough troop force over to Iraq. Bush has done an incredible job.
While I agree he isn't perfect, I would like to how you would've handled it better. ( put yourself the day of 9/11 not five years after. deal with the intel available at each successive milestone then tell me you could have done a better job).

How did you graduate with honors with that sort of grammar? That post was next to impossible to read. I am losing faith daily in our public schools.

good idea, in theory....but a better thing to do is, rather than give that money to the government to let them gain interest on, divert that money to a savings account for yourself. most employers will allow a split direct deposit, ie: send 95% to checking, 5% to savings. and if you're making $30K, you need to increase that. i'd suggest a 10% gross savings deposit.

sure, the boost at the end of the year is nice, but it's your money- make it work for YOU.

yeah, but still in college living at home I am having trouble not spending almost every penny I make, on fun stuff.
Plus I can't touch that money so I can't spend it I may increase my contributions though depending on if work picks up and how big my raise is. If I get to make 30k on straight time then I will definitely need to save more.
