They rape and kill women and children who are simply from a different faction of their religion. The only hope for this fantasy of yours to become a reality is to rid the world of them forever. That includes that demon we blew to smithereens the other day. I don't like the photos, but I'm glad he's dead. I'd pay $500 to watch Hussein get his, and another $1000 easy to watch a close up of Bin Laden being introduced to hell too.

Thats very Christian of you, Bassy. Sorry, but that is disgusting.
It is sorta Christian of him circa 400? AD remember the romans and all those fights in the coliseums?

I find the cover to be pushing sensationalism over news. I also find it to be in bad taste. Not so much for publishing the photo but for the unnecessary "tag lines".

On the other hand, I shed no tears over his death. I think he was an butthead and karma brought his around. However, in regards to that cover we should've taken the high road instead of just showing our ass.

Did the dude deserve to die? That's not my call. Am I upset that he has killed a lot of our citizens? yes. Am I upset that Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush JR (to name a few) are by our definitions, terrorists, and responsible for waaaaay more killing than aforementioned Muslim fellow? yes. Hell, the terrorist attacks these guys pulled off were even glazed over in the news...there's no big secrets here.

Yet I don't see anyone attacking any of those guys and wanting their heads on a plate and saying "they're not Humans". The only thing seperating these guys is they're political figureheads, Americans, and Christians, while the other fellow is an extremist, Middle Eastern, and Muslim.

The bloodthirst in this thread is a little disturbing. People want to pay money to see these guys die...When a large group of Rawandans die, I feel it's just as terrible as a large group of Americans. Yes, I'm an American, but we're all people with the same rights. Right? Or at least, that's what law and the Bible say.

Murder is murder.

Laws and bibles vary, sometimes to a very great degree.

None of our leaders (so far as I am aware) have personally beheaded their self-declared enemies. Whether that makes them slightly more civilized or just wusses would be another discussion. Pacifist nations do not survive long unless they're left alone entirely.

As per bloodlust, this nation, like many others, was "settled" by armies and criminals and baptised in the blood of those were here first. This holds true for many world powers, so whether it's a long history of cultural inclinations or just basic human nature I cannot say.

But most of this is off the original topic, which was whether the display was news or just feeding off shock value. Shock sells, and news is a business, but I state again that when it comes to what is allowed in the media in the U.S. that Americans in general and Christians in particular are sheltered, squeamish, and prudish compared to other nations, both third world and industrialized.

I was saying that the malice and hatred carries over to simple freedom fighters that don't want their country invaded by foreign forces. These guys don't deserve your hatred, if you were in their postion I doubt you'd sit back and let the tanks roll in.
Once again...this time with feeling.....

ZARQAWI WAS NOT IRAQI!

He was Jordanian, and only "entered" the Iraq theater when the US forces invades. He's about as much of a freedom fighter as I am a prima ballerina.

Did you notice the latest attacks where he was killing Shites AND Sunnis in Iraq? No? How about the attacks on the hotels in Jordan? Ahh yes, more "freedom fighter" crap.

You can debate to the end of the day that no one should ever die at the hands of another person, and I would agree with you except on one point.

If the person is indiscriminately murdering the people under their leadership or people, I think that opens the door for just cause. You an try and make the point between GWB and Hussein, but I'll provide couterpoints and we'll debate into our pension.

well, let's all just go home since we did so many bad things 1,600 years ago, I guess we have no right in doing anything....

One could argue that Imperial Britian said the same thing about our revolutionary patriots. Titles are given by the victor.

I don't think total inaction is the answer but shouldn't we use history as a tool or learning and not a guide to follow?

One minor quibble... It was Christians being persecuted in those coliseum fights.

I was being somewhat fecetious anyway, but I don't feel the least bit of sorrow that the man received his just reward.

I wasn't implying he was, I never made mention of him in my post.

Yeah, what she said was in response to what I said about Bassjone's wanting to pay money to see Hussein and Bin Laden get killed. I said, "Oh, thats very Christian of you." So it is a very clever sarcastic remark....which must have been completely lost on ya, buddy.

Again, not a very Christian thing to say my friend. Hell, I believe in no greater power and I have more compassion for human life than a Christian? WTF!!!

If crime-fighters fight crime and fire-fighters fight crime, what do freedom-fighters fight?

- George Carlin

I just jumped in on this thread. I do not have my glasses (my son broke them) and I can't see the screen too well, tso forgive my typos. There are a lot of things that I'd like to comment on, but I'll say this and sum up my thoughts (not beliefs. . .as those are bad IMO)

Fighting and killing is ingrained in nature as a means of survival. I would not kill except to preserve my way of life and/or protect myself and my family. We humans are so self-involved and self- important that we think that we are somehow above the natural order. It just isn't so. We are stupid, childish, non-learning animals fighting constantly over resources and our right to say "my god is better than your god". How enlightened. If people attack us, I believe that we should retaliate to prevent them attacking more. I believe there is a Christian philosophy: eye for an eye, yes? I do not think we should go in and try to take control of their government and way of life. It's not ours to do in the very same manner that it is not their place to tell us how to live.

I wish JoJo were still here to talk about moral relativism and presupposition. Just because you think it's wrong, doesn't make it wrong. Just because you think it's right doesn't make it right. We, like the Roman Empire and the Brittish Empire, will eventually fall to the next regime. I fear for my family since I don't know what that regime will be, and thus I support those willing to fight and die for my security in my way of life.

ok, this guy has been a criminal sense he was a teen then he joined Al Qaeda. and he was given the nickname the bloody sheik for personally beheading people he captured. there is also a good chance he was behind 9/11 and killing thousands of americans.

im glad that this guy is dead. i would have liked it if we would have captured him but you cant always get what you want can you?

and as a a writer for northrop's newspaper im going to have to say this front page looks like people spent about 15 minutes thinking about it. A lot of publications have a rule of not showing dead people in the publications, but it does really show that we have killed him. i dont really know if you should put that image of him on the cover though.

my 2 cents

Once again I question your willingness to kill someone. Honestly, I believe you need to expierence some form of psychological trauma to kill without remorse.

An honest question here: What type of person wants to be the executioner?

disagree all you want. . .but this type of behavior has been going on for millenia. . .not decades. . .not centuries. . .but thousands of years. We have not learned a thing from war and killing each other except how to do it better. We still fight over childish things that none of us can prove to be right or wrong. . .and you can't dispute that humans are animals. We're not plants or minerals.
