UGH! This is not their job! I was hoping this sort of activist nonsense might stop under a Roberts led court, but maybe not. I assume they'll rule correctly, but there's no reason this should even be a court issue at all.

A dozen states, a number of cities and various environmental groups asked the court to take up the case after a divided lower court ruled against them.
Got to clean house all the way down, not just at the top. And we've got to stop taking things to the courts that aren't their business.

Yet other scientists state: http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=299 And commend the movie for avoiding sensationalism, directly criticizing any administration, and or lingering on questionable correlations.

The CFP article is pretty poorly written, which is standard for journalists attempting to write science. It was a chore to get halfway through it without choking on errors in its arguments.

The overwhelming majority of peer-reviewed journal articles written by climatologists come down in favor of a strong human factor in recent climate change. I'm not going to dispute them without first getting a PhD in the field. If they were really doing it for grant money, Triana would be in orbit by now and not suffering from a lack of funding.

As some have already pointed out, other human effects on the environment are well documented. The Dust Bowl, deserts in the Middle East, rabbits in Australia, the three rivers we all know and smell so well. But conservatives (including some Democrats) and industries need to stop fighting every step we take.

The government has given itself the right to police pollution, and all of us enjoy a constitutional right to life. Where else are we supposed to take the case if we feel the government isn't doing its job?

Yeah, if you are crying about this, then you should be appalled by the amount of time the Court has been "bogged down" with abortion cases.

define reputable, because I'm guessing it means that whoever said it was automatically discounting those scientists who agreed with whatever his point of view happened to be, as disreputable. Unfortunately for that person, the dissenters include highly decorated, respected scientists.

Did you read the entire article about how the scientific evidence that does exist is being completely manipulated. One of my favorites was measuring data from March in the early study to data from September in the later cycle - complete opposite ends of the freezing cycle. JUNK SCIENCE!!

Good call. As I haven't had a chance to talk to Ray Anderson (well, reasonably) or Al Gore, or any Environmental Scientists and Ecologists, nor do I read environmental science journals, I dont know. I assume that it means non-industry-corporate-sponsored scientists. Again, I allude to the cig companies and their "research" showing that smoking was healthy.

I am. When states pass laws banning particularly offensive abortion procedures or requiring parental notification, the people who couldn't convince enough people in their state to vote the way they wanted them to shouldn't go run to the courts to try and get the law overturned. And the issue should have never been decided by the Supreme Court in 1973 to begin with, it should have been left to the State - and/or Federal - legislative branches, voted into office based on their stance on certain issues, to make those laws or lift those bans.

My point was that the politicians the two major parties are offering us don't make this an issue. You could vote for no one, but they'd never get the message.

I personally vote Green when I can, but you see where that's got us.

For the same reason, I've given up on parties per se.

Only vote for the person, issues,...
This is one of the reasons I hate the Primaries.

"There is no meaningful correlation between CO2 levels and Earth's temperature over this [geologic] time frame. In fact, when CO2 levels were over ten times higher than they are now, about 450 million years ago, the planet was in the depths of the absolute coldest period in the last half billion years."
*claps*

Good to see that some people have some insight. (This post by someone who has studied natural and social sciences for 7 years now between IU and IPFW including biology, geology, psychology, anthropology and quite a bit of evolution and human prehistory in depth.)

That quote had me questioning the article all the more. How did they measure this? Why is it in apparent contradiction with ice core samples? It's a nice quote, I just want to know how the statement was reached. You know. Science stuff.
