Last night I had to run sound for a friend's band out of town and got home around 4am. Since I had to run the show and had a long drive home, I choose not to drink. Upon arriving home, I needed to relax and settled down with a hopslam or two and turned on pbs.
I saw a show (don't know the title) about politics in the 60's. They were talking about Shriver and the "war on poverty" and how it got eclipsed by the vietnam war.
Anyways, not to ramble, but the point was made that during the presidential race (Lyndon B era if I recall correctly) the main topics were the need for education and health care, but the vietnam war sidelined everything.
That's the first time I really realized that nothing much has changed.
my how the times have changed...

True nothing has changed and nothing will ever change. Politics is politics the same way war is war and love is love. It can come in many forms but at the core it is all the same. America will never have a working health system, defeat poverty or make itself truely a free country the way most of modern europe is now.
Guitars and Drums are for losers!

We also don't have 14-20% unemployment, and for the 1000th time, there is no true poverty in America. There are lots of people with less than lots of other people, but when the poorest people in society die from diseases related to overeating and obesity, own and drive cars, live in houses, and can afford luxury items like televisions and refigerators, there is no real poverty. You want poverty, go to Europe, or Asia, or South America, or just south of us... you won't find it here.sevesd93 wrote:Ostagon wrote:True nothing has changed and nothing will ever change.
