doesnt anyone use this tool anymore? I have been a member for like 6yrs, but I stopped using it for about a year and just finally went back today. I think it is a great way get critism on your songs. I just hate doing the review process to get credits.

I have mixed feelings on this. I've had the chance to use it and read the criticisms. I think people get off on bashing each other because we got some horrible reviews **edit** amongst a sea of good and great reviews **end edit** and then when I listened to the music of the person who trashed us, I concluded that they probably lacked the equipment needed to get a brain freeze from drinking a Mister Misty too fast. It can be a good tool, but I don't think the reviews that are written do much other than "I like it" or "I don't like it" because I have never really gotten any deep or substantial comments.

There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary. . .

. . .and those who don't.

I put a tune on there to try it out about a year and a half ago, and while it did really well, there were a number of reviews that seemed useless to the point where it was just stupid. Part of the problem is certain (most) genres fall into other larger 'main' genres chosen by the reviewer to listen to. If they select 'rock', and they're expecting to hear something like, oh, TOOL, and they get Walter Trout or Jimi or whatever, they often give a cursory meaningless review, regardless of the song's qualities, or a dissertation as to why you're not really playing 'rock'.

The reviewer should just have to check a box-
A- Got it.
B- Didn't get it.
C- Didn't want to get it.
D- I'm here to drive down your score.

All good points.

What I like now is that they have made some major changes to the reviewing.

There are like 20 genres now instead of 10. Also the review MUST write I lengthy review on each song in the review set. The must also listen to both songs for at least 90 sec. Before you didnt always have to write a written review and you only had to listen to the first track in the pair for 90 secs.

Best part is that if they catch you copying and pasting in any of the fields they will delete your acount on the spot.

I've used Soundclick for a few years, and you can get some pretty decent reviews from some of the folks on their message boards. It would be cool to have a place on these boards for something like that, although the problem comes when people can't come up with anything useful to say and just make themselves look like idiots.
