playfully smacking my wife on the ass is a little different than that display. Unless you're referring to spanking my child, which is not legally considered assault unless it is "excessive", which it has never been.

The dude is just an butthead...plain and simple. It was obviously planned, which makes it even worse, IMO.

I think this would be more of a battery than assault...he did actually make contact and hit her...she could easily make a case on that, especially with video evidence. But that all depends on her...if she thought it was funny and doesn't care...well, then I don't either.

I think it crosses the line from being an excessive joke to borderline abuse (physical mental, emotional, take your pick) is when he slaps the pie in her face, pushes her back, and then points and laughs. Slapping her ass is one thing, following it up with further humiliation is another.
