give me job
Hmmm...not that I am a psychologist or anything, but I think that somewhat says a lot right there...its not about someone "giving" you a job (in reply to "make more money"), its about you and taking the initiative to do something to make more money...

Now, I have no problem with someone saying, "give me a lead" or "give me an interview", because the onus is still on you to show yourself as a benefit to the "company"...but the mentality that the only way you are going to make more money is if someone gives you a job...that's just a poor attittude, in my opinion, and one that will never net you positive results unless you change it...

Okay, I'm off my soapbox now:)
Haha, it was a joke. I do my own career searching. Just making fun of the fact that I have no car or job.

I'm gonna make me sign and stand on the corner of Coliseum and Coldwater with it. The sign will read "I will work for gasoline". :)

Are you serious?!?! Do you not remember how much crap you gave me about asking for a few leads the other day? But...since you don't have a problem with it....how about those names I was asking for?

Yah know...as I was proofing my post, I thought about that...give me a lead sounds way too much like doing the work for someone else, which is what I had a problem with the other day...again, that's coming from my "perpective" that a personal network of contacts is very valuable and my lack of experience in sales to realize that all the work really is "after" initial contact...

But I swear, I thought about just leaving the interview part...and just for that reason:) Oh well, no one is perfect, right?

As to Ollie's comment "give me a break", I'll just politely say, "suck it":) Seriously, if you are not bashing some innocent board goer, you're jumping down my throat. I firmly stand behind what I say, and the general mentality of "give me x" as a reply is something that runs rampant in this country. Too many people act like they are owed something and if they really took a look at themselves, they would see that it all starts there...I mean, hell, take a look at our very own FWPD thread...I just read and shake my head at people acting innocent or like they have such bad luck, but many don't realize they have been doing and acting out ways that lead up to that "one bad break and I got screwed" situation... I don't know, I know I am no saint and I have f'd up plenty of times in my life, but to act like there is anyone to blame but myself? On very, very rare occaisions is it truly a bad break...well, at least in my opinion, and that is all I was wanting to get across, an opinion...one that could lead to a meaningful discussion, or perhaps get some constructive banter going...

To kimaliz...my apologies, as I did not get the joking part, and unfairly used you to jump into some sociological/philosophical discussion. Didn't mean anything personal by it...

I agree with Deek on the 'give me a job' comment though. If you aren't out there GETTING a job you aren't going to be HANDED a job...

But..I know Al does go out looking..he just sucks at everything so he has no chance of GETTING a job...lol..<duck>...

So someone needs to actually GIVE him a job...don't worry...you won't get STUCK with him...he will eventually just quit showing up...lol...

Sorry...I am just having too much fun crackin' on poor Al...:)

I almost forgot about what this thread was about...

High prices of GAS...

YES...Gas is getting out of hand...NO it really isn't that much more to fill your tank EACH time it goes up...but it is considerably higher than it was a year ago..hell only 6 months...

BUT...if it goes up ten cents it isn't much...you just have to look further back to see the BIG difference to understand how much of an impact it has had. Ollie was right that the changes have been pretty harsh and the math bassjones did was a little 'off'...

HOWEVER, you have the options to change your habits and plan better before you just get in the car and head out. You can of course ride your bike to work as Sankofa has done...I would do it in a second if I didn't have to be somewhat presentable at my job and didn't live so far away from work. If I could figure it out I would...I need to exercise and I need to save money...kill two birds with one stone...

We need to cut back to solve the gas problems...that is the basic answer to it. Figure it out and implement your solution. Every little bit will help.

Sorry for using multiple paragraphs and boring you with 'content' and pointless ramblings...;)

Boy you really told me 'eh?

Want to spark a meaningful discussion?

Start your own topic and stop derailing threads to post your own self-righteous rants about people, their lives and they way they run them if you have no insight into them.

You reply had NOTHING to do about gas prices and was a long lecture to Al about his lack of work ethic.

Here's a thought...

Start a thread about anything...

And let me pick out 3 or 4 words that annoy me so I can write a page long rant about your life and how you live it.

All in the good nature of sparking conversation, of course.

And when I am waaay off base I will make some feeble apology for misjudging you.

Whats the view like up on that high horse anyway? I think I might climb up and take a look around.

You need to spend a *LOT* more time around these people before you even begin to make judgements about them.

Um, consider taking your own advice, eh?

How hypocritical is it to say something like that about someone I think that maybe you've never even met?

But I sort of agree with what you're saying, bc if I were to judge you based on your posts here in the last two months, I'd think you were a real ass, but since I know you in person, I have the benefit of realizing that you're not really.
There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary. . .

. . .and those who don't.

There was no judgement of DEEK.

Just an observation. I formed no misguided opinions or lectured about his lifestyle.

He's your friend and probably a nice guy.

As to the math...

That was based on the average (not current) gas prices for last year at this point to this year at this point. It is also based on the number of cars registered in the US. Can't remember the totals, but the AVERAGE cost calculated out to $148 more (or so) per car over last year. Obviously, if you drive a gas guzzler - like my old POS Buick - or drive more miles your individual number will be higher than that.
