I guess Charles Manson was sauced up as well.

OH, did anyone drug test Hitler before he died?
You're denying 'roid rage???

Manson was on drugs, as was his entire "family" - deadly combinations of barbituates and hallucinogenic drugs in fact. And there is some evidence that Hitler was addicted to amphetimines as well.
Yes I am, as probably the only person on here who has ever used them.

It is just another excuse for people to use to point the finger and put blame on something besides themselves. People can't accept the fact that someone just went nuts.

What ever happened to people just being Bat sh*t Crazy?

It seems like there is an excuse for why everyone acts up or does something wrong these days.

The guy was a crazy dickhead, leave it at that.
I'm gonna have to go with Seve on this one. From everything I've read it sounds like everything that happened was very deliberate and drawn out over the course of the weekend. That doesn't sound like a mindless rage to me. I think a "'Roid Rage" (if there even really is such a thing as sensationalized by media types) would have been a lot more destructive of the surrounding environment and wouldn't have lasted the entire weekend.

I'm not making excuses for him. I think people who commit crimes while high on drugs should be held more responsible than those who commit crimes while sober. There is a significant amount of research linking steroid use/abuse w/ people "going nuts". That's not an excuse, it's a fact. If you knowingly use steroids, knowing the information that's out there and you then commit a crime in an act of 'roid rage, that's entirely on you. Same for smokers - you are not allowed to sue the tobacco companies because you chose to smoke. Same for us fat guys - no suing McD's because you couldn't limit yourself to a QPC/small fry/small coke once a week and instead injested 5 DQPC's/large fries/supersize cokes a week. If you don't KNOW how to eat healthy that's your fault, and most likely you do and are lying about it. Knowing what's healthy and eating that sh*t anyway is your own damn fault. Quit bitching about it.

Same for 'roids, LSD, coke, heroine, whatever... you know damn well it's not good for you. You use, you lose, no excuses.

Drugs alter your thought processes, regardless of whether you're currently using them or not. 'roids cause psychoses, as does LSD, Cocaine, meth, and other drugs. Those psychoses exist long after a person sobers up - sometimes years after, if they ever resolve.

So empirical, medical studies are to just be thrown out the window? I'm not saying that I know anything about the actual effects of anabolic steroids, because I don't, but I'm supposed to believe that the doctors and scientists who have studied this are all wrong? I have a hard time with that.

Was it a factor in this case? They found the drugs in his house. He probably used them. It is a factor, but it may not be a major factor. It could be a single straw of hundreds that made him snap, but ultimately, people who do this are prone to snap regardless. The right set of stressors and BOOM!

I love how so many of these conversations take such a strong extreme view when little (if anything) in the world is that cut and dry. Seve has a valid point. I'm sure there are plenty of people who can use them without these negative effects; however, those side effects are medically proven and that's why they are an illegal substance. Brad is right in saying that the drugs certainly had an affect on Benoit, but who can really say how much since none of us here are medical doctors and none of us are criminal investigators, so, for anyone here to speculate in one way or the other is really. . .well. . .stupid.

and for the record, I still think they should be legal. use them if you want, but then don't use it as an excuse when you freak out and do something criminal.

They are legal, but only by prescription. The article states that he had Prescription Anabolic Steroids in the house. The problem is he more than likely abused them and took them with other drugs.

To say this was a 3 day Roid Rage is just asinine and it gives the hormones a bad name.

Testosterone therapy and other forms of steroids do wonders for the human body when taken as directed and responsibly.

forgive my error. i meant to say controlled, not illegal.

any drug used as directed by a medical professional should be helpful.

After reading up on this guy...it sounds like he was just an overall piece of sh*t.

Steroids should not be used as an excuse for this worthless jerk.

He was a POS and roids are no excuse. I didn't see he went on a 3 day roid rage, just that the abuse of steroids likely altered his state of mind permanently and this is the result.

Check this out! This puts a twist on his death.

Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit's Wikipedia entry to mention his wife's death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son.

Benoit's Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife's death.

A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Connecticut, where World Wrestling Entertainment is based.

a) the date-time stamp could have been altered
b) law enforcement has been known to drag their bums
c) conspiracy theories are dumb:)

Its interesting though, I'll give you that, but it could simply just be someone being really anal about making updates to wiki and as soon as they heard, they updated it...rumor or not...

Someone already fessed up to it. He said he changed it based on rumors after Benoit was a no-show @ the WWE pay-per-view.
