But would you stay to see America's greatest songwriter as well?

Eh...depends on who's with me. If it's the lady, then yes.

I'm not paying $200 (or whatever it costs) to go see the opening band then leave... and I'm not paying $2 to see JMC

This show would not be worth 85 bucks a ticket even if you got to sit on his face the whole show.
I will tell you what is worth 85 bucks a ticket though....
Blue Man Group. I just dropped 400 bucks on 4 tickets right smack in the middle and 3 rows from the stage.

There's no band/entertainer/hooker on the face of this Earth that I would pay $100 to see.

There are some dead guys I'd pay that to have a chance to see though...
Trane, Miles, Jimi, Jaco, SRV, Mingus, Bird to start. I'd pay that to see someone still alive I put in that class too - and none of the Marsalis' belong on that list - maybe papa. Seen Victor Wooten and Oteil. Seen a few others. Can't really think of anyone alive that I'd put on that list though.

I paid $100 to see Costello and would do it again in a millisecond
Los Lobos, YES ! John C., No !

Los Lobos, YES ! Happy they are back out touring. Would go if they were the main act. Los Lonely Boys could open for them. Carlos Santana could be a guest and they all come out for the 'encore and rip.
John Cougar M., No ! Saw him in his prime, front row, walked out half way thru the show. This was the Scarecrow Tour. The one with the smokin' hot fiddle playing lady. She could really play but the band seemed to be under his strict control. Note for note. Not alive. It was HIS show. It was all about HIM. It still turns me off.
It just felt cold and contrived. Maybe he has come down off his fame because he did write some historical American hits about this part of the country.

Eh...I'd personally rather "rock out" to Mellencamp while wearing nothing but stilleto heals and a turtleneck.
