Botanical Conservatory is ‘Wired for Sound’ with Outdoor Concert Series

Trade in the smoky club scene for concerts al fresco. Blues, reggae, Celtic, zydeco and folk music will play from the Fort Wayne Metals – Wired for Sound stage at the Botanical Conservatory every Friday evening from July 21st through September 1st. Bring a lawn chair and join us for these upcoming concerts:

No Tools Loaned will take the stage on July 21st at 9:00pm. Come enjoy this Kentucky-based bluegrass band that combines classic standards and unique touches to make every song a true “NTL” original.

Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans
will make you want to dance as they take the stage on July 28th. The band, which embraces Reggae and old-school soul, will transport you to a club in the French Quarter as they play what they dub “Afro-Caribbean inspired New Orleans funk.”

Doors open at 8:00pm with music starting at 9:00pm (to midnight). Admission is only $5 per person and children ages 12 and under are admitted free with a parent. Cover includes the concert and admission to the gardens. Mad Anthony Brewing Co. will have themed food and a cash bar available for an additional charge.

For more information about the Wired for Sound series, please call the Conservatory at 427-6440.

The concerts are part of the Upbeat Downtown Concert Series. Wired for Sound is sponsored by Fort Wayne Metals, the Downtown Improvement District, Whatzup, Mad Anthony Brewing Co., Z94.1 and the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory with special assistance from One Lucky Guitar, Fort Wayne Music.com and the Hilton Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Center.

Thanks, Julie. I heard an advertisement for this Friday's show last night and didn't catch the name of the band. I'm going to MySpace their asses to see if they're worth a damn.

I never thought I would consider going to the Botanical Conservatory.

Is Summerfest worth a damn? I've always wanted to check it out but never have.

CMT was broadcasting parts (Lynyrd f'ing Skynyrd, unfortunately) the other night but didn't show anything worth a damn.

it definitely looks like it's a great time.

Does your admission include seeing ALL of those bands or are their seperate tents and seperate tickets for each band?

I think all but the *headliners* for the day are all part of the ticket price to the fairgrounds.

The headliners may have an additional ticket price.

The fairgrounds are kick ass and it cool to walk from stage to stage with beer and food in hand and listen to a HUGE diversity of music.

The stages sound great and the always pick interesting acts.

The definitely have their crap together there.

Each stage has a section up front for seating. Its like the long aluminum bleacher type seats.

From there its standing room so people can come and go easily. Some of the stages are small and nearly standing room only, the rest are medium sized with *some* seating. The main stage is more like a small Deer Creek.

It is set up nicely to allow people to stroll around from stage to stage.

I can't reccomend enough that everyone go at least once.

What a great time.

It's what Three Rivers Festival wants to be when it grows up.

I'd like to see them to condense it down to 3 or 4 days. 10 days is just way too much, in my opinion.
