I would start boycotting Snickers, but I actually made that decision a long time ago based on their "drink minimum and $ minimum requirements" to have a chair to sit in.

What I find really ironic is the fact we've had more incidents of anti-abortion Right-Wing citizens (notice I don't call them pro-lifers) who commit acts of "terrorism" (bombing abortion clinics in our own country, etc). But no one seems to make as big of a deal about that. :/ I'd like to see guards...

I'm reading The War on Choice: The Right Wing Attack on Women's Rights and How to Fight Back by Gloria Feldt's right now. In her book she talks a lot about how the Right-Wing folks are passing laws trying to make abortion extremely difficult for people to obtain rather than directly attacking the is...

I think what the law is really concerned with is two things: 1) Denying a minor mother's ability to choose an abortion if they want one. There are pleny of parents with faith who would make their daughter have the kid even if the daddy was long gone and the daughter would be having a child with a bo...

I don't think he's done anything I appreciated yet. But he has failed to show up at meetings which would grant higher education more federal funding in Indiana...I think he went to some anti-abortion meeting instead. :( IPFW's newspaper wrote a little bit on it a few years ago.

No Herb? :( Putting the Primus and Meat Puppets together is diluting a good thing...kind of like those series that run too long on television and lose their storyline. But maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. :) I'm confused, the Meat Puppets are using Tim "Herb" Alexander and not their original dru...

If teachers had as much schooling as doctors then perhaps their wages might reflect that. It is a travesty that K-12 teachers are not paid enough, but on the flipside; they're not doing enough. Schooling isn't the only form of knowledge worth working for. Field experience can be many more years of ...

If we paid our teachers like doctors and our doctors like teachers, people would have more human capital to enable their future.

I really didn't intend this to turn into a discussion of feminism. I was addressing your quote below. Many of these teachers are clueless about black culture and poverty and many have been feministized (militant feminism that views masculinity as bad and attempts to train the masculinity out of mal...

I picked up a bunch of Martin Gore's solo work about a month ago and I've been hooked on Conterfeit 2 for the past couple of days.

I wasn't necessarily "blaming" anyone, just pointing out some things I see, and the main point wasn't even about masculinity, more that I think it's awfully difficult for upper middle class caucasian women to identify with poor young african american males, for a whole host of reasons, including ma...

I'm going to state one of the obvious but essential bands; there should be some Red Hot Chili Peppers somewhere in the mix! Some Primus is essential too! If we're mentioning staple singles, I'd naturally use: Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers Wynona's Big Brown Beaver - Primus But, this track...

There's also a chapter about single mothers. All of the problems that commentators were associating with single mothers in the 80s/90s were actually problems of class, which no one wanted to discuss and thus, no one was controlling for. A white boy raised by a middle class single mother is going to...
