Chris

And then there's this one. . . .

You wanna' use a PC, great; knock yourself out. You don't have to insult us Mac users just to make yourself feel better. I'm not gonna' switch as a result of your abuse.

This is not about getting Mac users to switch. It is about getting Mac users to shut the f**k up, because nothing you say is going to make a PC user switch either.

Also, Mac users have brought this abuse upon themselves with all the commercials and other bullsh*t they put out.

Sorry to disagree, but there is no way in Hell I'm ever buying a PC again. I do a lot of composing and arranging, and can't stand my PC. My next big computer investment will certainly be a MacBook Pro.

Yeah they do, unless the people at Macintosh use PCs.

PCs are honestly for people intelligent enough to maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot them on their own. Even then, I wouldn't say that it's all about intelligence, it's more about the drive and/or desire to do so. I LOVE researching new hardware and software and figuring out how to best implement it with my system. I equally love doing the same research to build a new machine.

Of the three computers that I've built for myself and the few that I've built for others, user error or broken hardware (which does, simply happen from time to time) are the ONLY things that have ever crashed them. . .and I've never been on the user error side of a crash from them, but I've been called to get them out of the jam.

If you don't want to put the effort into understanding your machine, how it works, and how to care for it properly, buy a mac. You don't have to have much knowledge to use them and they're designed that way. It's supposed to be an idiot-proof tool; pun intended. If you enjoy working with electronics and you like the process of troublshooting, optimizing, and upgrading a machine, buy a PC.

And. . .just for the record. . .1's and 0's are only 1's and 0's. A Mac and a PC handle them the same way. A processor uses RAM and a bus to send them willy nilly about the MoBo and make your hardware do what the software tells it. The difference is primarily in the software and Mac software is generally about user friendly, idiot-proof and easy to use. Often times, though, the PC version and the Mac version are 99.9% the same software.

Only those ignorant in the science of computers would think that there is really much of a difference in the machines themselves. Yeah, there are different instruction sets in the processors, but not anymore. Intel makes them all. Get over it. Use what you like and shut the f**k up.
There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary. . .

. . .and those who don't.

I use both PC and MAC on a daily basis. As Garr said, they both handle the 1's and 0's the same way. There is NOT a very big difference between the two. I use the computers for work (paycheck and hobby) purposes and they both serve me well. The computer is there to help me complete my work. I don't give a crap what color, make, or model it is as long as it helps me get my work done. Re-read Garr's last sentence.
