Clerks 2 Teaser!

Post by mattjericho »

[b]Okay, think of what little patience I have as, oh, I don't know, your virginity. You always thought it would be there, until that night Junior Year when you were feeling a little down about yourself and your pal Kevin, who just wanted to be friends, well, he dropped by and he brought a copy of About Last Night and a four-pack of Bartels & James and woo hoo hoo, it was gone forever - just like my patience is now.

Awesome! Mewes looks a little sickly in that photo on the bottom. This made my day!

Don't know if Mewes ever got off the junk...Smith said he wouldn't work with him again unless he cleaned up. I'm guessing he would have since he's in the picture. :-)

This is going to be craptacular mistake.

With all due respect to Mr. Smith, I can think of only a handful of sequels that came close to their first film.

There is no way he's going to capture the grainy spontaneity of the first Clerks.

This inevitably will be a polished, Hollywood production that will have the life sucked out of it by studio execs.

Leave a good thing alone.

I've always looked forward to the ongoing adventures of Dante and Randall. The Clerks cartoon was great, they are going to make a Clerks cartoon movie sometime as well. I can't wait, I think it will be a great film. I think its going through Miramax which has no Disney affiliation anymore, which should make it free of executive bullsh*t.

With the exception of Jersey Girl, when can you EVER have accused Smith of sucking up to Hollywood execs and making a polished movie???

He's still a small budget, small dollar, independent for the most part. I mean, Miramax is a huge studio, but they still focus their business on independent filmmakers.

Anyhow, I think this is going to destroy. Will it truly be Clerks II? Who knows until we see it, but it will be damned funny as hell and that's all anyone can expect from Smith.

I am particularly eager to gain the newest View Askew catch phrases and add a whole host of new one liners to my internal quote bank. I cannot wait to assault my ears with the latest batch of intelligent and overly indulgent dialog delivered by actors who are the quintessence of delivery.

I'm also eager to see how Afflec and Lee will play into this. There were short clips of them in this teaser, and I'm anxious to know which characters they will be reprising, or if they will hit them all as they did in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Some interesting trivia about Clerks: 2
The working title of the film was The Passion of the Clerks but was scrapped for the simplified title of Clerks 2 before releasing the web-only teaser trailer featuring the roman numeral title of Clerks II.

The film's shooting budget was $5 million dollars and was shot on a single set in Los Angeles and at the Quick Stop and R.S.T. Video stores in Leonardo, New Jersey.

After much speculation, Smith announced that the film would be shot in both black & white (Quick Stop scenes) and color (Mooby's restuarant scenes).

Smith plans to release the film without submitting it to the MPAA ratings board (which he expects would assign the film an NC-17 rating).
$5 million is a pretty small budget, so I'm thinking he'll capture the original 'Clerks' vibe. (that and I'm a fanboy).

Plus NC-17 makes me want to see it all the more. No whiny under-agers!

I loved the first film...this just doesn't look very good to me.

I like that they work at Mooby's....I hate that it is shot in color. I am sure that this film will be entertaining, but I wish Smith would've left it alone.

At least it's not all in color.

I did read that before....I still don't like it much.

To me the trailer looked more like Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back than Clerks or Mallrats...I liked the low budget, college film style of the first film. I wished he would remain true to that.

With that said, I still think I will enjoy this film. I can't wait to see how Smith references the Star Wars Saga in Clerks 2.
