Woodwind and Brasswind
I heard today that Guitar Center made an offer to buy out Woodwind and Brasswind. For those of you who have never been to Woodwind and Brasswind,it is the mecca for all musicians. I bought my dw kit there and several other items.

The Guitar Centers offer was turned down several months ago. They only wanted to buy it for the name, and had no intention of keeping any of the couple hundred employees that work there. Unless something has changed recently, Conn-Selmer in Elkhart had the winning bid to buy them out. They are going to keep nearly all of the employees.
My uncle works there and has much of the inside track on what's going on.

Your uncle should read the South Bend papers. Here's the story from today's....

As I said, unless something changed recently....The last I talked to him was before Christmas, so, at the time, he was correct. As the article states, this is clearly a recent happening.Silencio wrote:Your uncle should read the South Bend papers.
Hopefully the GC won't screw all the employees. Bamber (the now former owner) says it will be good for his employees, but he's a douche bag. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. I worked there myself for a few summers and over college breaks and stuff, as did my sister. Couldn't stand the guy, and neither could most of the people around him.
