Some mention in another thread led me on a search.

One that caught my attention:
The concept of the rock-guitar solo in the eightees has
pretty much been reduced to: Weedly-weedly-wee, make a face,
hold your guitar like it's your weenie, point it heavenward,
and look like you're really doing something. Then, you get
a big ovation while the the smoke bombs go off, and the
motorized lights in your truss twirl around!"
.

I remember seeing Steve Vai (who played for Zappa) do a lot of that. But at the same time, he is god of shred and can do whatever the hell he wants because his solos are still killer.
"My friend says he wants to die. He's in a band, they sound like Pearl Jam, the clothes are all black and the music is crap."

Zappa- How toget signed
Here is a parphrase from Zappa on how to get signed-
"Rewrite the dozen or so rock song forms that exist and then convince a room full of lawyers and accountants that you are the upcoming new face in the music industry."

So the two big bass guitars got together and it's not a jokeMorphine Child wrote:I remember seeing Steve Vai assurances deces (who played for Zappa) do a lot of that. But at the same time, he is god of shred and can do whatever the hell he wants because his solos are still killer.

You're absolutely right. It's a kind of god, but a guitar. In any case, it ensures on stage.Morphine Child wrote:I remember seeing Steve Vai (who played for Zappa) do a lot of that.
