Okay, if you copy and paste that between two BBCode code brackets, you should be able to post some of your fave chords. Obviously, change the numbers if you need to. Let's see how it goes. If you want, post some neat progressions too.
I'll work on getting a few of mine up.

I stole this one out of an STP song. Do you know which one? Anyhow, I really love the way it sounds. I have NO idea what it's called.
You have b, e-, a#, b, and g in there Okay, so I'm not sure if it's a e- or a d# or a b- or an a#, so yeah, I'm sure one of you can tell me what this is.

Okay, here's another one I dig. I don't know what this is either, but I've used this a half dozen times.

Well, that first one I'd call a Bmaj7 with a raised fifth (depending on the key, I guess)... trying to be some kind of augmented chord, but it doesn't really work to my ear.
The second one is an A7sus4, much more harmonious and useful, I'll say. You might expres that as having an E bass note: A7sus4/E in the real book.

Sounds like something off of Core, I'm going to guess "Sin".

Try this one on for size, it's a little higher on the fretboard.

That first chord is from "Creep." It's the resolution to the E minor - C major - ??? chord progression. Perhaps on it's own, it doesn't sound all that great, but it's pretty awesome in that song.
If I have time when I get home today, I'll try those suggested and try to think of a few more of my favorites that I play quite a bit.

Did I do that right? I never was good at TAB I play by ear. I don't know the name, I call it the SRV chord.

It looks good to me.

I've been playing that "SRV" chord (and he does use it a lot) since I was 14 (1970!!), and back then most guitar players found it really odd. I didn't know what it was either, it just sounded good in the V position (key of A).
It's an E7+sharp9. The raised 9th would be considered a minor third if it was inside the chord instead of on top, but inside the chord you're playing a MAJOR 3rd, so even though they're an octave apart, the tension of a half-tone dissonance is being set-up.
I always did (and Stevie does to) a big six-string strum on this thing, so I finger it as a full first position E chord with the accidentals on top, like this:
Code: Select all
e|---|---|-4-|---|
B|---|---|-4-|---|
G|-1-|---|---|---|
D|---|-3-|---|---|
A|---|-2-|---|---|
E|---|---|---|---|
1 2 3 4
Or you can accentuate the seventh by opening it up on the "D" string like this:
Code: Select all
e|---|---|-4-|---|
B|---|---|-4-|---|
G|-1-|---|---|---|
D|---|---|---|---|
A|---|-2-|---|---|
E|---|---|---|---|
1 2 3 4

Hey, that's awesome. It's taking a minute to get the stretch down since my little finger is not super-chord-strong, but I really like how this sounds. Do you have any cool progressions to run this through to get maximum effect for practicing it?

This is a alternate way to play an "A".....It sounds cool when you slide up & down the neck with this chord.......Dave Matthews uses this a lot.

Thanks to everyone who's submitted. I've learned some nifty new chords and I appreciate them. I hope everyone else is getting something from it too.
