just wondering about some of you guys.

theres some shows i go to and see the same people, which is awesome.

but theres some shows i check out, and maybe 10 people show up, even with a good bill and cheap cover.

i dont think people here support this scene enough.

I really only go to 3 bars which are all close to my house; Side Pocket, Corner Pocket, and Gin Mill. So if you ain't playing in one of them, I won't be there.

On edit, I go to a lot of other bars, but only when I am playing in them.

I check out music on a fairly regular basis...I have to admit as I've started to get bogged down with responsibilities, I've got less time to go to shows...especially if it's someone I've never heard before.

We also moved a bit left of downtown, so it does factor in where and what we'll go see. I understand and empathize with why the ol'Sevemeister might not want to venture out of a 3 mile radius. Too much on the line to lose to be part of some dude's quota.

I can also empathize with you Rezin, you're about as loyal and supportive as they come. It can be frustrating when it seems the music scene is stagnant and just the same people out every night. But you'll have that, crowds will wax and wane with different bands--just wait til winter some new different people might get stir-crazy and come out and support people. :D

i don't check enough, mainly because my life is busier than ever (school, work, student teaching, wedding whatnots) but if there's a show Rezin didn't go to, it wasn't a show

I have had 2 DUIs, one for a .09 and one for a .11. I only had 3 or 4 drinks in a 2 hour sitting both times. I am a big man and was not impaired whatsoever, but do you think Mr. Police officer gave a sh*t? Both times I was downtown and I know for a fact on one that I was followed from the hill overlooking Sneaky Pete's parking lot at the time.

I would love to go to more shows, but until there is some form of inexpensive, safe and reliable transportation around this city, I will be staying in my comfort zone.

Nothing against the local bands, I just can't afford to take a ride downtown in a cruiser.

I check out quite a few shows.... up to 3 per week, and every now and then I'll take the weekend off. Whether or not I go out depends upon how/whether I hear about a show and who's playing. Usually I'll check out bands I don't know if someone invites me and I'm curious about the sound. I also check the Whatzup if I'm just wanting to see a live band.

Myspace bulletins are also nice for finding out about local shows. It's nice to get excited ahead of time for a great local show!

I don't go out on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday because most of the time, the show won't start until 10 or 10:30. I have to work in the mornings.

Also...$$$ is an issue. Especially since I just bought a new house and a car.

I hit up as many shows as I can. Not as many as I'd like.

weekends usually are the only time i get to go out. since we have an 11 (going on 18 ) year old little girl, it's tough to find the time to get out. but the weekends that she goes to the birth mothers house, we try to get out and support when we can.

looks like i have plenty of free time and a new reason to see as much local stuff as i can in the near future, tho.

agreed, fleek, on the start time of school night shows. start at 8, and they will come....

I don't get off work until midnight during the week, so I miss a lot of shows. It sucks, but not much I can do about it.

I'm trying to get out more. Even though I have less time, I'm more active, and that activity level gets me more involved. I've been out two weekends in a row to see local music. That hasn't happened in over two years for me.

awesome.

glad im gettin more insight on this topic.

i think that some of these artists around town deserve alot more support than they usually get.

and another thing, although im not in a band, i think people in bands should support others more than us fans. i know a couple of bands around town that check out shows on a weekly basis, mainly for the support of the other bands, not because theyre really into the music so much. and thats what i think it should be about, support your "brethren".

i understand alot of you have other things going on in your lives, and i dont have as much going on, which is why i go to so many shows around town. guess im livin life while i can, or until the man and procreation catch up with me, haha.

I play 2-3 weekends a month (not counting church), work full-time, have a wife and an 8-year-old daughter, volunteer at my church in various capacities, and my wife is in grad school/seminary. If I see another band's show it is a rare moment
