Needing brutality

Post by The Hand of Poo »

It's hard to find quality metal bands that aren't overly cheesy or pathetically technical and bland. My philosophy is that the more it angrier it makes you, the better. Here's a list of what I've been digging on lately, including myspace links for the lazy. It'd be great if even one of you jerkss added to the list or found something you like on mine as I've been feeling like the last of the metalheads lately.

P.S.: You're very much allowed to keep your scr-emo/*core suggestions to yourself.

Job for a Cowboy - Arizona

Animosity - Bay area

Gojira - From France! If you dig Isis, you'll love this sh*t.

Honorable mentions: Sepultura's "Dante XXI" is pretty damn good for a max-less sep, Scar Symmetry is decent if you're into In Flames or Soilwork, and Devin Townsend's "Synchestra" isn't exactly metal but it's a great album by a waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too underrated guitarist who normally plays heavier music.

Newer as in the 90's? :)

Dude, I very much dig acid bath. It's been a while since I've listened (we're talking 5+ years here), but thanks for reminding me. Have you heard the singers other projects after the Bath? I think "Agents of Oblivion" was one of them, amongst others. Dax(sp?) sounds like a much improved singer on those side projects, it's almost night and day.

Also, any band with cover artwork by John Wayne Gacy deserves commendation regardless of the sound. If even Godsmack were to use Pogo on one of their covers, I might purchase it. It'd have to be Pogo naked, though, for them to have a chance.

Still angry?

I've been digging on..

From the UK... progressive, techinical, and addictive.

It's the only CD I'm able to squeeze in between heavy Mastodon listening sessions.

How about The Classic Struggle? They remind me a lot of Through the Eyes of the Dead...pretty badass. The Classic Struggle has a lot more breakdowns than TTEOTD though, which makes the two different from each other.
