Top 5 Wide Receivers

Post by bassjones »

1. Jerry Rice - Nobody else even comes close
2. Steve Largent
3. Art Monk - Still trying to figure out how the hell my number 4 got in the HOF before Monk, who's still not in.
4. Michael Irvin
5. Lynn Swann - not statistically in the same league, but man was he fun to watch.

See, here I'm unsure about Carter for the same reason I don't think Tim Brown would make my list. They're both in the top three for career receptions (I think, been a while since I kept track) but that's only because they played for about 725 years each. I'm not sure who would be in my top 5 all time. I'll have to think on it a while. But I'm pretty sure neither one of them makes it.

Jones, for what it's worth, I totally agree.

I'll probably get bashed by all you old school guys but I have to throw Marvin Harrison on there. C'mon, a slight little guy who by magic somehow seems to bring in the high ball while dragging his toes so as to not go out of bounds? How many times has he burned a d down field?

Yeah, in the past couple years he isn't getting as much because the d is always looking out to shut him down. That should say something.

If memory serves me correct he has some records as well.

by the time he's done, I'd probably have him up at #2. For as long as I live, no one will surpass Jerry though.

I hate Michael Irvin, but I still like Jones original list.......Until Irvin, it was a finess position.....he was really the first receiver that was physical enough to go out there and beat up cornerbacks. Plus, he won three rings in four years.

What about Michael Vick? He may be a quarterback NOW, but he will come out of prison a 'Wide Receiver'...haha...

You think his physical attitude had something to do with all the coke he was blowing?
