And it's now being reported that Zell will turn around and sell the Cubs at the end of the season.

Dear Mark Cuban...LET THE BIDDING BEGIN!

Since Zell is a limited partner in the Einhorn/Reinsdorf group that bought the White Sox back in the early eighties, does this mean the Sox now own the Cubs? I mean other than in the crosstown series.

...And does this mean that after Zell dumps the Cubs, the Tribune will be the propaganda machine for the Sox that it used to be for the Cubs?

Though it's a nice attempt at being funny, a 29-25 record doesn't qualify as being "owned".

Yeah, that was just a throw-in joke. My questions, though, were serious... Will WGN dump the Cubs when the Trib company does? Just a day or two after the sale, the Trib is already running articles talking about what a dump Wrigley is. Now that a Sox partner owns the company, will the Tribune starting giving the Cubs the same treatment it has given the Sox since the Tribune bought the Cubs? It should be interesting to see how this plays out, vis-a-vis the whole Sox/Cubs/Trib dynamic.

Who knows...I just know that it's good news for Cubs fans. Well, hopefully...if they find an owner that's will to shell out the cash needed to put a winning team on the field, that is.

WGN wouldn't dump the Cubs and if they do, they're dumb. The Cubbies have a nationwide following and I'm sure WGN's ratings are probably right around the highest they EVER are when the Cubs are on TV. I know that's the only time I watch that station...I'm sure I'm not alone considering their programming blows ass.

And if they do dump 'em, the new owner would be smart to start up their own station like the Yankees (Yes Network) do. They have the fanbase to do it. Why not? I'm actually hoping this happens...I get tired of seeing "MLB Baseball" on the program guide only to find out that's a Sox game.

We'll find out in about 7 months or so.
