Drawing Pad

Post by Garr »

Does anyone use a digital drawing input pad? If so, what make and model? What do you recommend? I'm interested, but don't know square one about them. I think that there are a lot of things that I could do with some of my design work that would come out much better if I were using one of those. . .but I have never tried one.

I've got a Wacom Graphire tablet. It was only $100 at Circuit City, and it had a $20 mail in rebate at the time! It works pretty awesomely, and is definitely a help with hand drawing stuff on the computer, or selecting precise regions in Photoshop. I haven't used any others, but this works fine for me and I would recommend it.

Dude, pen tool. It's the best selector around. I'd like to use a stylus, but I'd have to learn it; I'm so accustomed to taking stuff into Illustrator and redrawing it...$100 is pretty cheap though!

Yes, that's really cheap. I've seen models running $500+ from what's been suggested on Good-Tutorials.com. . .I'm glad to hear that you can get a starting device for a cheaper price.

Thanks for the lead!

I have the cheapie Wacom too.

If you have the scratch get a more expensive one though.

It works at a higher resolution and you can get very exact with the pen. On smaller images it's less likely to give you jagged edges.

I used the high-end version and it kicked ass
