I have been working on a website design for Zephaniah. Here is what I've come up with so far:

http://www.zephaniahmetal.com

I'd appreciate any input on the design/layout/etc. It would be nice to get some input before I begin the daunting task of coding it into html/css.

Thanks!

I checked it in IE7 and FF3beta.

The design looks good. The images are catchy, the colors and theme is right on based on what I've heard of your music.

The layout is hurting, though. Your left margin is like 400 pixels. The main content didn't even start until near the halfway mark on my screen. This happened in both IE and FF.

On a technical note, though I like the way your image navigation looks, it's a bad idea to have your nav be images instead of text. In order to stay with the theme, I don't see a lot of options, though. Make sure that you properly set all the "alt=" parameters and "title=" parameters for those img elements. That will help ensure accessibility and is just good practice.

I can't wait to see this when it's done. You're on the right path!

Thanks! What I have up now is just a single .jpg image of the design, centered on the page. I haven't even chopped it up or done anything whatsoever with actual coding, so any problems with margins should be fixed eventually!

I'm also working on a 22" widescreen monitor. I'll be sure to check it out at a smaller resolution to fix any problems with that.

I didn't dig into the code, but I'm viewing on 1024x768. Somewhere in there, I think you have to have something setting the width to be so huge, or you just made a gigantic image.

Still, though, it looks really good.

Actually, that would be the problem. The image is 1600x1188. I didn't bother trimming off the sides before I uploaded it. I'm viewing at 1680x1050, which explains why it centers fine on my screen. No problem, that will be fixed!

Alright, I did some pretty serious graphic chopping/coding today. Let me know if you see any serious problems so far.

Thanks!

looks good.

only thing that i think is fishy, is all the links in the box to the left, kinda takes away from the symmetry.

maybe make them smaller and stick them in a box above the news/mailing list?

just my two cents, keep it up, doin pretty good.
